I'm sure old hands at using this site is a piece of cake. My lack of use and limited intelligence becomes very confused when attempting to simply ask a question. Well here goes. I have read and re-read regarding my need for a straight no-nonsense answer. I'm desiring to replace an exhaust system on a standard 2003 Vette by removing the very loud exhaust and installing a STOCK (Quiet) used unit that would consist of the tubes that run back over the axels and then mufflers and all the connecting and outlet pipes. God this long. Finally the question: Will a C5 Z06 exhaust as I describe above interchange with the C5 standard coupe system.
The answer is that a C5 Z06 factory "cat back" system will bolt onto a C5 coupe. Cat back is the term used to describe the part of the exhaust system that you described above.
But I have to ask some questions before you get started on this project since it is possible that the system installed n your car is more than just a cat back system.
Do you know if the car has headers installed or is the exhaust manifold at the engine stock?
Do you know if the system has the factory catalytic converters or have they been replaced with high flow cats?
If either or both of these changes have been made to the car then the system that will result from the installation of the C5 Z06 cat back system may well still be a lot louder than you are expecting.
Don't know the answers to your questions. But very appreciative that you asked as I did not consider this. I'm having a pre-purchase inspection and I will have the converters and manifolds checked out. Thaks for your help
