I was looking on eBay and saw the 2004 Service Manuals (two volume set) listed for $500 - $600. Is this ligit? Checked the Helms site and apparently they are no longer available.
GM went away from paper manuals in 2000 and went to online manuals. Many of the used manuals came out of dealerships. Helm was selling disc. Alldata is popular with independents. It has both repair information and labor times.
This is correct. The 2004 service manuals consist of two books. Most others like my 2002 Z06 consist of three books.
I bought my manuals in 2013 brand new from Gene Culley at GMPartshouse/Cultrag now so paper manuals were still being printed past 2000.

Helms has the Service Manual for the 2017 Vette but not for the 2018. List price is $375. So guess that $500 or so is not that bad for an out of print 2004 Service Manual.

If you are looking to buy a set, try posting up a WTB thread in the C5 Parts for Sale/Wanted Section. They come up for sale every now and then and usually at much better prices.

Whoever posted that price on fleabay is full of it. You should be able to get a decent quality set for around $100 to $125.
Weird on the two and four sets. I have the 3 volume set (can't think of year and I'm too lazy right now to go look). I believe I paid like a $100 for them. It seems I use them every year but no way in heck would I pay $500 for them.

well its kind of a good description..... let me state up front I am not a software guy...usually we install software and you follow instructions and it takes you through step by step and different things are installed systematically.
on this you are buying a portion of the mitchell manual.....so for several of the steps you dont have the discs, so you have to skip them.....this is not hard and his description of how to install it works just fine....and if I can do it. you should have no problem doing it. Its just kind of a goofy install. it works great and is very impressive software with a narrative trouble shooting program which is top notch and links you to the appropriate pages.
I am super impressed with it, and well worth the low purchase price.
i bought it totally on a whim and said "what the hell and hit the Buy button"
I dont know what version of windows it needs you could ask the guy
bottom line ..... i would buy another one for my daily driver if they had it available
