[Z06] Z06 top speed?

Z06 top speed?
Hi, I was wondering if one of you guys could tell me the top speed of a Z06?
A friend of mine has a late model RX-7 and the spedometer regesters 180, and these cars have about 255 horsepower, and probobly aren't as aerodynamic as a vette. I've heard that a vette tops out at 177, but I figured a 405HP mated with a 6 Speed would push the vette much faster than the RX-7

Some say about 172 in the Z06 in 5th gear. Top speed can't be reached in 6th. The coupe has a higher top end due to the areo of the rear window.

Just because the speedometer registers 180 doesn't mean the car can go that fast. But if you want to go by the speedometer the one on a Z06 registers 200.

I used to have a 93 T/T RX7. Just sold it 3 month ago. The top speed is about 155 to 160 MPH for a stock car ( articles from Motor Trend, Car and Driver, etc.. back in 1992-1994. ) Yes, the speedometer goes to 180 MPH.
The T/T RX7 is a very high maintatenance car.
I spent like $4000 over 2.5 yrs of time to make it reliable.

Damn, I've gone fast in my C5... but who the heck has the need to go THAT fast? I don't know about where you live, but out here there is just no safe way for anyone to mess around like that without risking themselves or someone else in some way. :eek:

Was wondering if you have found anywhere relatively 'safe' to let her go? Did 120 yesterday for part of the way on Alligator Alley-cops being conspicuously absent but haven't found anywhere else down here to play for any extended period/

A moderately modded Z will do 184. Intake & exhaust. Ask TAMU or Kubra. My car might touch 200.
BTW--Anyone get a Dec. copy of "Corvette Fever" ? My car is in it.
