Here's a picture of the end result. I've never had a radiator installation be so complicated. The connections are very secure and no leakage.

The red fitting is an inverted flare to mate with the fitting in the radiator. The blue fitting secures the flared pipe to the red fitting.

Please don't laugh too hard - but this is on Automatics only?

On the 4runner forum there's a lot of chatter about "pink milkshake" that results when the radiator fails and the anti-freeze gets into the trans. Like most other hi-milers - I bypassed it and now run an aux cooler mounted in front of the radiator....

Has anyone tried to take this fitting apart?

It looks like there is a nut, that holds the tube in, and the body. I colored the fitting to show my theory. I guess you would have to destroy the body to get them apart since it has no wrench flats to hold it.

Later C6 they switched to the retaining clip

So did anyone be ever figure out if this purple fitting can be separated or not? Is it actually a quick disconnect? If so, what QD tool is the one for the job? Thanks!

I could not separate that fitting. I ended up cutting it off and then using a flaring tool to put the new fittings on.

A little off topic, but "Hi" Tom. I remember coming to your house back in 2006 to buy a radiator (needed it yesterday situation!) for my Torch red 2000 C5 convertible, and you saved the day! Wishing you the best in retirement. Oh, about that near 15 year old DeWitts radiator; it is STILL in my C5, cooling a built LS7, and its never overheated or leaked!! Thanks again for building a great product!!

The blue nut pulls the flared pipe up against the red fitting.
I screwed up the lower trans line connector on my 02 Vette and would like to know what is that and where can I get one?
