Ok, I watched several videos on how to put Plasti-Dip on the rear diffuser. They showed to pull the painter's tape right after the last coat, while wet.
I applied 6 coats and started pulling the edging tape, right as I finished the last coat, and it just pulled the edges of the dip off in a very raggedly fashion - not salvageable. I went by the can instructions and let each coat dry 30 minutes before adding one, all except the last coat, of course. So, I don't see how the tape cannot be too attached to the paint. even after the first or second dry coat
How have you done yours so that didn't happen?
I had a heck of a time getting it out of the rear vents (with grills that I covered). The rest came off Ok, but now I'm in a quandary about starting over again and keep this from happening again.
When I did mine I sprayed one coat after a another with just a little flash time in between in fact I got a small run in it but when it dried it was not visible at all and the tape peeled off just fine but it was still damp when I did it.
Sorry about the pic but it is the best I have
I masked mine off, sprayed the plasti dip on in one go. Its kind of sticky so it doesn't really run like wet paint. I applied it quickly and removed the tape while it was still completely wet.
I think letting yours dry for 30 minutes is what caused it.
I did several wet coats and peeled before it was dry, they say that the heavier you apply it the easier it is to remove? And like I said I got a small run in it but as it dried it disappeared. The good thing is if you screw up you can start over. Good luck, you can do it if I can!
This morning I re-masked everything and sprayed the fool out of the diffuser, probably 6-7 coats. The first coat scared me as it was very splotchy, but more coats cured that and I think it's gonna look good. It was very wet when I pulled the tape and it came out with nice crisp edges. It's drying now.
Pics later.
Thanks to all that steered me in the right direction!!!

Thanks for the update and asking about this. I am planning to do the same soon.
Definitely pull off the tape when it is wet. I did three coats and only let them tack between applications. It has been on now for 4 years without any peeling or chipping - through rain and snow.
My tip..... Use vinyl electrical tape to do the edge. You can put it on with smooth radii, it doesn't allow any bleed thru or under, and it pulls off very easy and rapidly. Just have to mask beyond it with newspaper.

And it stretches for the curves that you have to go around!
