Snake in The Vette! (or a mouse)
Getting an awful odor of a dead mouse or snake when the vent air is turned on. Looked all over in the engine compartment but couldn't see anything. I assume it's inside the air duct somewhere.
Do I wait until the damn thing is decomposed an no longer stinky or is there a way to see and remove it?
TIA

It’s probably just mildew. Buy a spray can of Lysol disinfectant and spray it into the cowl air intake. Have your a/c on full and turn off the recirculation. Make sure your windows are open.
My Ford Edge has this problem from time to time. It smells like a locker room and this fixes it.

If it is not just mildew and is a dead critter, I would make it a point to get it out soon. Not sure if there is an easy way to see exactly what it is and where it is located.

It may be worth pulling the fan out of the passenger foot well and checking it. When I bought my car, it had sat in a garage for a few years and a mouse had camped in there one winter and died. No odor issue by the time I bought the car. Just an off-balance fan whirling its corpse and a few nuts in circles like a blender.
Edit: you will also want to check / empty your 3 bladders on the driver side up inside the fender well. If a critter was in there and died, it brought food, and in my case the bladders were clogged with nuts.

^^^^this^^^^ I bet whatever it is is most likely stuck in the fan squirrel cage or close by it.

I'll check that squirrel cage. Thanks.
