Finally sealed the deal! I drove out to meet up with Christopher (sadly I didn't get his username) on Friday and purchased this beauty! She's in just about perfect condition (18 years old and I turned over the 28,000 mark on the test drive). I'm getting back into practice with a stick (it's been awhile) and she behaves nothing like anything I've driven before. This is hands-down the most fun I've had driving any vehicle ever! 90mph is way too comfortable and I'm worried about the speeding ticket cost if I push it past there (she feels like she really wants 120mph).
I'm also still getting used to how low she rides; the relatively gentle speed humps at my work are doable, but traditional speed bumps are horrific and I'm already trying to eliminate them from all possible routes.
She's due for a wash (she was perfect when I left, but I drove 2.5hr home through rolling fields with plenty of wind and dirt thrown about; you can see the before picture at the bottom and the after picture up top); any thoughts on using the on-base coin op manual wash? It seems like the most accessible choice (moving in a month and I'm not picking up a home sprayer yet). And yes, I've got a cover already ordered (Covercraft Evolution).
I picked up an Obdok Bluetooth-to-FM adapter and I'm able to run my iPhone through the sound system without rewiring anything. Absolutely worth the $18 I spent on it.
So yeah, I finally got the dream car and she's absolutely as much of a dream as I was hoping! Woohoo!
Congrats on the purchase. She looks great! What are your plans for the Vette? Here's to many miles of smiles
Nothing major planned yet. I've got a 600-and-change-mile move in about a month; I'll be driving the moving truck out while the wife takes the Outback (so happy to have something other than the Dadmobile now), then I'll fly back and see how much I can improve on Google's 9h28m drive time estimate. I didn't have any mods in mind at all until I happened upon RadioFlyer's fog lights; we'll see if I can talk the XO into them (she's been an angel thus far with regards to letting me get a fun car).
Congrats, it's beautiful. You could trailer it behind the moving truck.
But then I wouldn't have an excuse to drive it for an extra 9.5hr, right? I'm gonna be commuting 2-3 miles at a time for the next few years with scant options for business-related commutes; I'll take the opportunities where I can =)
Nice ride!! Pictures don't do a millennium yellow C5 justice either. Every time I have seen one in person, the color is so rich and vivid. One of my favorite colors on a C5 that I may not purchase myself but very much admire.
Congrats on that nice find! I've said it before, but here goes again. A yellow C5 going down the road on a beautiful day is really something to see! And, to boot, you have the drop top to enhance the experience! Good luck with your new baby!
