Default New Vette

Hi, excuse my english....I'm spanish...
After a long time of searching I am finally the owner of a C5 from the year 2000 with manual gearbox. I love it.
Anyway, it has the typical Corvette problems...oil pressure sensor, the fuel gauge goes to 0 from time to time and the clutch is pressed and has to be raised with the foot especially with the car just started.
Even so, I couldn't like it any more....unlike the European cars where sitting my 1.85cm and 115kg. it's really hard, in the Vette I feel very comfortable.
Is it noisy? yes
The change is very long? yes
Is it difficult at times? yes
But....that's the way it has to be, no more, no less........

I wanted to ask you two questions:
Which fuel to use in Europe? 98 o 95?
Which engine and transmission oil to use in Europe? I am not sure I could find AMSOil in Spain.....

Thank you and be patient with this newbie, please.....

My baby....

Hello and welcome to the C5 world! Yes, they have their quirks, but can be very rewarding once sorted.

If you can't obtain Amsoil, Liqui-Moly is very good as well.

Congrats! And welcome to the asylum...

Your grammar is better than a lot of posts I read here...so no worries!

Interesting that your C5 is MY2000 but has wagon wheels, which were 1997-99 only, at least in the US. Somebody could have changed the originals out for ww's I guess, but that would be unusual.

Regardless, enjoy your new Corvette!

Congratulations and welcome.

As far as fuel, higher octane ratings are usually better. As I understand it, your 98 is like 93 octane in the states and your 95 is like 91 octane. Either will work.

As far as oil, as long as your oil meets the GM4718M standard, you're good to go. Do some research to see what oils are readily available to you.

Enjoy!

Congrats on your new Vette! Sorry, no info re your questions but I would check-out your clutch fluid & add some Techron Gas Treatment to your fuel tank which may help getting better fuel gauge readings. Good Luck!

YOu need to try to flush your clutch fluid, which is problematic with the slave being unaccessible. Search this forum for the "Ranger Method" of flushing your clutch fluid. It may delay your having to buy a new clutch. Oh, and welcome! Your car looks great.

Thank you, everyone.

The car's documentation states it's from the year 2000 but I imagine GM couldn't manufacture and bring it to Europe in that year so i guess it will correspond to the 1999 American model. I'm sure no one changed his tires.

Very nice looking car and welcome to the forum.

As for your questions, in addition to the answers you may get here, you may want to pose the questions in the Other Country Events regional section of the forum.
