Default Unattached Cable in Trunk

I recently purchased a 1998 convertible and while vacuuming the trunk area noticed this completely unattached cable just laying inside across the back. Any idea what this is or where it goes? Is it related to the convertible top or some release mechanism?

After further research it appears this is the manual release cable for the convertible top. Instead of being on the outside of the carpet it should be tucked underneath.

There are several cables in the trunk used for manual releases.
Gas filler release, and trunk opener are two others.
These are there should the electric buttons not work for some reason.
They are exposed to relieve frustration when you actually need one, or all of them.
If they were hidden, imagine the frustration of trying to find one when you needed to use it.
The trunk release is difficult enough to find without GM hiding it under the carpet.
