Well what started out to be a good weekend ended with heart break. So I have been looking for the right car for several months. Finally found the right car
even found it from a member here. 38000 mile 02 millennium yellow. The car was perfect. It just so happened that we where back in Indianapolis the weekend of the Bloomington gold show. The car was there and we meet up with Lance and got to do the test drive around the 500 track. So I knew this was the right car for me. Made arrangements to pick it up in Atlanta about 1/2 way for both of us. Took possession Saturday morning. The drive back was great made several stops along the way and my wife and I where having a great time driving back to Naples Florida. Got late last night and we stopped for the night. Parked the car in the very back of the lot. Not a sole around. Came out this morning to head back home and. Yeah you guessed it someone backed into it. Front bumper has a nice round gouge from a exhaust pipe. Drivers yeah light is pushed down about a half an inch and the fender has some damage. Not the way I had things planned in my head.
so tomorrow I will be looking to get it to a dealer for repairs.
Bummer!
Terrible way to start your trip home.
Guess the driver was partially blind. If they couldn't see MY not sure what other color had a chance around them.
Other than the "other guy's" damage, you have a sharp looking C5!
That sucks! Worse in that whoever backed into your car didn't bother to leave a note or phone number. Instead of a dealer, find a reputable body shop with experience in Corvettes to have the work done. Hope your insurance company doesn't want you to collect a bunch of estimates and go with the lowest bid or force you to use "their" shop. Millennium Yellow is not the easiest color to blend in to the factory paint. MY uses a tinted clear coat.
My heart goes out to you. What an unfortunate thing to happen. The good thing is that you have a beautiful car and it can be fixed to be good as new. Good luck.
I know you had only had your car for a few days, but this happen after 18 year of fun. I was lucky the bozo that did it stayed parked next to me, His response..."Oh that just a parking bruise"...
Thanks Guys. Here the rub for me. I'm the lead paint and body man at the Revs institute here in Naples. My insurance wants me to take it to a repair shop. Since I cant give an estimate on the repair. I cleaned it up tonight. Couldn't stand just to let it set without doing something. The stop on the headlight bucket is broke/bent. not sure as I haven't taken it apart. Fender is OK small scratch buffed out. front cover and headlight are going to need paint. I'm going to be some ones shop worst nightmare. I'm so picky. If it doesn't match I wont except it. From what I have read about this color the clear is tinted. early threads on paint matching this color seems to be a nightmare.
Tomorrow will be interesting.

Man, that really sucks. Too bad the individual that hit your car didn't have the decency to leave a note with contact information - or better yet to wait and meet you personally about the damage.
