I have a 99 coupe, and I decided to replace the oil pressure sensor that had failed.
In my attempt to be cheap and fast, I decided to try to remove and replace the sensor without removing the intake manifold. I got the old sensor out fine, but when I was putting the new one in, it fell in the area behind the engine when I was trying to thread it in.
I removed the intake manifold (which ended up being not that difficult, I just needed to get a few new tools) in hopes of being able to reach back and pick up the sensor that I dropped. I can't see it or feel it anywhere. I know it didn't fall to the ground because it is not sitting on my floor.
What is behind the engine where the sensor could have fallen? Will I be ok if it stays down there? My only concern would be it getting caught on something and causing damage when I am driving.
On my '00 coupe I dropped my old sensor when it fell out of the socket as I pulled it out. Turns out it fell around the torque tube and ended up on the torque tube cover plate. Knowing the cover plate is open on the ends I finished installing the new sensor and went for a drive. It rolled out the back on the first acceleration from a stop.
Thanks for your replies everyone. I got everything replaced and put back together, and it works! I'll have to do some spirited driving to get the other sensor to fall out.
