Mobil 1 change interval (time wise, not miles)
I cant find any official literature on Mobil's website on change intervals. A lot of people go 3k-5k miles on Mobil 1 oil but most people do not speak in terms of TIME.
I live in LA so both my cars average only around 3k miles/yr... I have been averaging about 1 year, 3k miles on each of my cars.
Do you think it's ok to go a year per oil change? I use normal Mobil 1 10W-30 w/ bosch 3332 filter and/or Mobil 1 "High Mileage" 10W-30 w/ bosch 3332 filter
Also... What's the difference w/ high mileage Mobil 1 vs normal Mobil 1? Can/should I put high mileage Mobil 1 in my c5z even though it has 40k miles?

yes 1 year and 3000 miles is just fine even more on both ends would be fine....5,000 miles or 1.5 years would be my limitations.

One year is the typical consensus for cars utilizing synthetic oil that do not reach the mileage requirements for an oil change. Synthetic does receive a bit of additive break down like any oil does but it's not to the same degree as non-synthetics. Regardless if you do not reach roughly ~5,000 miles a year you should change it yearly (your DIC's oil life meter runs based off your habits but it will typically reach oil change period between 4,500-5,500 depending on how you drive).
Oil brand choice is largely up to the individuals' preference but it needs to meet the requirement for GM Dexos (currently Dexos 2 standard). Many oils also meet Dexos without being official tagged as such (such as Amsoil). 40,000 miles is not high mileage - barely broken in. Many get well into six digit territory running the run-of-the-mill 5w30 Mobil 1 recommended oil. Myself that an an AC Delco filter have been all I've ran.

I put 2,000 miles a year on my 02 vert. That being said I change the oil and filter every 24 months. Don't care what the dealers or oil companies say. They are motivated by $$$, not facts.

There is a Mobil-1 version made for annual oil change intervals. Might want to look at that.

Once a year is enough. Now that my car has 100k my tech suggests twice a year. Dusty climes should change more often also. Why don't you contact Chevrolet for their suggestions or if you have a manual it's in there. As far as the hi mileage oil I doubt it would matter but check with Mobil direct. They all have customer service.

Back in the 60s dealers recommended every 6k. Your car is anything but high mileage nothing to worry about.
In fact I use cheap dino oil these days (still use a good wix filter)I dont buy into the "has to be synthetic or else" stuff. Quieted those noisey LS lifters!

I change mine once a year since I do not put enough miles on it each year to go by the oil life monitor. However, if you drive the car a lot, just go by the oil life monitor. It should be close enough to change time at 5-6K miles.

High mileage oils have weird additives, like promoting the swelling of seals. 40k is nowhere near high mileage. Don't indiscriminately pour that in without first checking with the manufacturer. Personally, no way I'd do it with my '03 with 27k.

Best source of info is on the forums at bobistheoilguy.com. Those guys are oil geeks and obsess over this stuff, and have lab analysis results to prove it. You can see examples of lab analyses for oil 2 years old.
I don't do many miles on any of my cars, so it's 2 year intervals on the non-sports cars, and 1 year on the C5Z (better to be safe than sorry) since the car is driven hard.
