Replaced it and used a crappy old battery as a core and bought a Costco battery, kept the Delco to use on my 1965 Chevy truck.
Never any leaking, reasoning for replacing it parts store said it was bad.
Maybe it wasn't?
It fires up my big block in the old truck just fine.
I bought it because it had the highest RC reserve capacity 110, supposedly C5 needs 120 RC, the Costco(Interstate Batteries) battery I replaced it with has same RC and cranking and cold cranking amps.
I noticed Home Depot sells batteries after checking out near door exit, they had one with 120 RC, forgot what brand.
I do have a complaint about the Costco battery, it doesn't have a handle to lift it out of the car, it's big and kinda heavy grabbing it out of the C5, but not impossible.
That's what I use. 89 bucks at Menards. I mount it on a mat and pull it out over the winter so it can't freeze and crack the case. When I bought my car I asked a retired Chevy mechanic/service manager about the leaking battery issue with C5s. He told me people would buy a new C5, park it over the winter without a tender or disconnecting the battery. The battery would drain and then freeze, cracking the case and leaking acid onto the electronics underneath. He said they had to fix several C5s in the spring when they went to start their cars and they discovered the cracked batteries.
I just put one of these in my C5. It seems to be doing a fine job so far. Replaced a 5 yo optima red top that went bad. I paid $95.00 plus tax for mine from dealership. It is warrantied for 30 months no pro rating.

I just agonized over a battery purchase for my 11 Grand Sport C6 Vert. Looked at every thing from a $95 Walmart battery to a $300 Fullriver battery.
KEY to purchasing a battery that will last and is reliable and wont die prematurely is getting something that has the correct RESERVE CAPACITY. You need something that has a 110 reserve cap.
I ended up purchasing an Autozone platinum AGM. Excellent battery, has a great warranty and you can find an Autozone just about anywhere if you ever did have a warranty issue.
The C5 really needs a battery with the correct reserve capacity to make it be able to sit in the car for an extended period of time (30 days) and still crank the engine.
