Goof Off, lots of rubbing, maybe a beer or two.

. However, be aware that the color will be removed along with the sticky film, leaving the airbag cover just black. I read that someone had good results applying one of those spray dyes for rubber/vinyl afterwards. Let us know how it goes

So, the beer keeps the steering wheel from melting?

Kept me from melting while scrubbing the cover. I forgot another actual step in the process though: pull the fuse for the horn.

I purchased a dashboard cover from one of the forum vendors. I use it when ever I am in a constant hot sun situation. Parking beach, open lots, etc.

Assuming your horn actually works! Here's a link to my results.

Yea a very common C5 issue. Great advice posted above (including the beer). I initially tried Goo Gone (citrus based) but it didn't seem to do so well. I didn't have Goof Off handy so I ended up using a degreaser and that worked very well.

And in case you're a visual person, here's a video I did on it.

Neighbor just did his. Used Simple Green and a scrubby, took about 1/2 hr. Didn't affect color
