C6 front brake swap explained w/ pics
I had purchased these C6 calipers new from the dealer last summer and ran them on my 05 Chevy Blazer for about 5,000 miles. This summer I bought my C5 with 27,000 miles and figured I would swap the brakes on both cars knowing that they’re very compatible. So C5 brakes went on the blazer, and the C5 got the C6 brakes!
So the C6 base uses the same front brake components as the C5 (minus the caliper). Pads, rotors, carriers, hoses, everything is the same. Other than the appearance, the C6 caliper was built stronger for less flex during braking and serves as a small performance upgrade too.
The C6 calipers come from GM in a matte black color. I painted mine red.
I also threw new AC Delco pads on it while I had the calipers off.
To be honest, the car stops about the same but I do certainly prefer the look of the C6 caliper with the large Corvette lettering.
Any questions, fire away!
