Has anyone ever had a pair of 10.5" rear OEM wheels from a C5Z cut in half and narrowed by 1" to fit flush with the fenders up front? I have bought a pair and it will cost $350 to have them cut in half, remove 1" width, and welded back together. This would allow me to keep the OEM wheels and put C6 front brake calipers from a Z06 or Grand Sport up front.
I did to run six piston Wilwood brakes with C6 ZO6 rotors. The wheels cleared the brakes perfectly and also allowed smaller tires on the front to keep the factory stagger and not affect the stability control systems. Could not have been happier with the results and it cost me around $300 for the pair.
Agreed, narrowing the wheels does not affect the offset, but it eliminates the need to run 295 tires on the front and the possible rubbing of the tires on the inner fender wells. It also allows you to keep the factory stagger to eliminate any potential problems with the stability control systems. In my opinion running a "squared" tire setup with 295 rubber on all four corners is not ideal for a street car. It might be great for autocross or road racing, but having to turn into parking spaces where the tires might rub or the front end pulling in the direction of road ruts makes narrowing the wheels desirable.
Duh...I totally didn't consider that. Man how stupid am I? Oh well at least I have an extra set of 18s for road racing now. LOL
Hey that's never a bad thing! I use to have a rear set that was widen 1" worked great. Sold them when my flares went on the rear wish I would have just keep them.
It doesn't seem like my rear 10.5" poked out that much on the front.

So, to be very clear, you've had a square setup with 295's on all four corners, experienced rubbing, rut following and traction control issues, first hand?l
I have a square setup with 295's on my daily driven Z06, that's not even stock ride height, so I'll wait for your answer.
I'm looking to move to a square 18" z06 set up on my road course z51. Anyone have any pictures of the 18" z06 on the front of the car and what size tires are you running? 295/?/18 or 305/?/18 or 315/?/18
