Just purchased a 2001 Coupe 6MT and the steering wheel still locks. I have read and understand that I should modify it so it doesn't lock, because eventually the lock-out mechanism fails and causes big problems. I have youtubed and researched two kits that address steering column lock bypass: 1. Compliance Parts LMC5 Module - C5 Corvette steering column lock bypass module and 2. Corvette Steering Lock Simulator Kit C5 Bypass Locking Mechanism Column. My question is: Do I need both kits or just one or the other so that I bypass the column lock issue?
Thanks!

only need the LMC5 as long as the steering is NOT locked !!!!
If I can ask, just curious, what is the "2. Corvette Steering Lock Simulator Kit C5 Bypass for"? Is it just another method of accomplishing the by-pass or is it for something else?
I’ve been advising people about this for years, more lately. I did the LMC5 on my ‘02Z and my current coupe. The Z went easy but the coupe had some problems from the previous owner’s failed attempt at installing an older LMC5 kit.
I have no idea what the second kit you found is.
The fix is simple. Call Richard at Compliance Parts. Tell him your concerns, buy the kit from him, when you have trouble, call him. He is the best customer service person I’ve ever dealt with and other will agree. It’s that simple.

8VETTE7 Explained it above. Here is a photo of the second kit that is being advertised and sold for the column lock issue.
As 8vette stated. I has the brown wire ‘problem’ because of mistakes made by the previous owner, including the move of one of the pins in the multi connector to the wrong hole. Richard stayed on the phone from California as he talked me thru the solution.
