I guess the 6.2 extra displacement drinks more, than the little LS1?
They both have more or less the same final drive ratio and fuel injection systems Target 14.7 : 1 AFR. So the larger engine turning the same number of times for the same distance should use a little more fuel. Differences will come in when one maintains the 14.7 better, such as having a tune that doesn't richen quite so much.

Nice thing is that you don't have to. Tune it to run proper and it won't use any more fuel.

same here pretty much. I got 33.2 once average on the highway on a trip. I could count on 31 without even trying. Mine dropped a little above 60 miles an hour but it wasn't that bad. At 75 to 80 it was good for about 27 or 28 Highway.

I find cruise control also hurts mileage a little bit because it tends to push more when it doesn't have to.

Original window sticker for my '98 coupe 6speed, showed 19/29. Long term average around 23-24. Highway only, mostly 6th gear, 30 +/-.

But things have changed. My current model Genesis G80 AWD (300+ hp 3.8L) will deliver also deliver 30+ on long highway runs - checked it closely when we drove up to Canada this summer. And it weighs a ton - or two.

Ding, ding, ding! We have a winner! I finally tracked the mpg on my 02 coupe on a road trip out to Elmers car museum (2.5 hours each way), and got on it a little but not my normal since it had been mostly two lane highway that kept going through little towns that would bring you down to 30mph, and had been so scenic, and it got 27.7mpg (did the miles traveled divided by gallons used, not the readout). This is in auto with 3.15's and could not be happier. Seats were pretty comfortable for the trip also! Only real drawback from it being a perfect roadtrip car is no real drink holders, and no spare tire (someday might bite me in the ***?).

Oh, and got about 20 waves from other vettes passing by

Doing periodic checks on your tires (pressure / condition) will alleviate most tire issues. How many motorcycles do you see on the side of the road with a flat tire? Not many. I rode over 135k miles on motorcycles and never an issue. I've driven about a million miles and have used a spare tire 4x. Only one time a compressor and tire plug kit wouldn't have gotten me back on the road. It was a rental car and previous person must have hit something. The bead on the rim blew out.

To keep with the thread, I recently drove from Florida to Michigan (~1230 miles, 18.5 hrs total time) and averaged 26 MPG in my 2003 Z06.

I've never really given miles per gallon any weight with my performance/fun rides. My last consideration in a performance car. I love C5's for the performance, value, and fun factor. The really surprising gas mileage these cars can attain on a highway cruise is just a side benefit, but a very nice one! Y'all take care!

Actually, the C5 gets great mileage. I have a 2014 Ford Escape (4cylinder turbo) and my Vette gets a solid 23-24mpg driving around here in rural southern MI, whereas the Escape, averages at best, about 19mpg.

Great little SUV, the all wheel drive Escape, but gas mileage is atrocious.

Really? I have two 2014 escapes with the 2.0 turbo awd and get around 24mpg combined. Not as fun as the vette, but lots more room.

Really. I've contacted the dealer, Ford, and others.
