Just passed NJ inspection
I pull into the bay and the first thing the guy says is "Where's your front license plate?" and I'm like Oh ****! Last time I flew through without it. I step out and to the side and I can see him under the dash with the computer cable. He later calls me over - "Drive out - get another ticket - and go through another lane - this computer is not communicating with your car" and I'm like double oh-**** - and I think "Gee - maybe they've upped their game and they can tell my computer has been tweaked - I may NEVER make it past inspection!" So I drive around - go through another lane (with a different crew) - and after a bit they call me over and I see I'm good for another 2 years

Glad our inspection program is less involved here.
Glad you made it through the process.

I pulled into the Newton inspection (in Sussex County) and I told the woman there I wanted to ask her a question. She says don't worry, we don't care about no front license plates. I said to her that wasn't the question. Then she says which lane to go in because that's the one for lowered cars. No problems, went right through.

Sounds like you and striper both hit some good inspectors who focused really on whether the car was safe!

NJ only checks for codes and readiness tests. You can tune the computer all day long, even turn off codes and tell it to say its ready when its not, and they'll never know.
That being said, after a reflash you may have a p1000 that might hang around for a week or two, so its best to wait a while after flashing the computer to try to bring it through.

So glad I don’t have to deal with that crap. Total racket. I live in a no inspection state and everyone says we have to deal with junkers on the road. Reality? Most people take decent care of their cars. I live in a rural area, not even emissions check. And guess what? Cars around here are just fine.

Good that you got a pass... I guess?
I’ll stay here in America with none of that bs, keeping my taxes low, my legal machine guns in my safe, and my Corvette without gestapo inspections.
Hopefully you guys finally stop voting for the same commies that’ve been running your state into 49th place for the last few decades.

That being said to protect the innocent I will not talk about who tunes my computer but I have several things reconfigured on my car, two less O2 sensors and the air pump is missing. However the car still passes NJ inspection because it was done right. And I have a good gas cap.:-)

They’re laws and we are subject to them just as everyone else is. You don’t get “pass” because you own a Corvette. This idea that some laws are optional is a dangerous notion. Compliance is not a bad thing . When I was in basic training, I could never understand what the deal was with uniform pockets being buttoned. Now I get it. Seems small but sets the standard.
