The time has finally come for me to buy a z06. As a data analytics major I make a lot of my decisions based on polls. I'm torn between 2 cars. lmk which one you'd go for.
Both cars are exactly the same. heres the difference
z06 #1
34k miles
$19k
7 Owners with an accident reported in 2009 (Clean Title)
$650 to ship (After I go see it don't worry)
z06 #2
41k miles
18.5k
No accidents
$1075 to ship (I'd go see this one too before buying)
I will be driving about 7k miles a year, so basically the one with 34k miles gives me a free year of driving basically, but then it has an accident. I am new to this so I would love your experienced opinions. -- I plan on selling in about 4-5 years.
Thank you,
Shems
If you don't care too much about resale value, buy #1. if you plan to sell the car later (2-5 years, let's say), maybe to get something newer or supercharged or whatever, buy #2. I recently unexpectedly sold my 1998 C5 convertible, clean title but previous accident, and the accident scared many, but not all, interested buyers away. I ended up selling the car cheaper than expected. So, in the final analysis for me, I would advise you to buy #2.

# of owners doesn't matter at all- my 8 owner C5Z drives way better than all the 1,2,and 3 owner Z06s I test drove before choosing this one. Sometimes one owner for a long time gets complacent and loses interest in the car, and with that not taking care of maintenance and smaller repairs. But with each owner there's a renewed interest in making sure the car is tip-top. So my overall point is, # of owners is neither a negative or a positive.
But the accident does matter. I would only buy the accident car if there's a record of the accident (pictures, receipts) and it was only minor/cosmetic.
So I'd go with #2 based on it not having an accident.

i would go for #2 based on no accidents and #1 having 7 owners, jmo
I agree with you. Hmm, I see you are located in Punta Gorda. The c5 in your photo is a beautiful color. I live in Port Charlotte, near the Charlotte/Sarasota county line. I have two modified C5s (2000 supercharged coupe and 1998 coupe with iron block 408 stroker motor).

...you didn't provide all the data...how many owners does car #2 have? Seven owners with 34K miles on car #1 concerns me...is there a gremlin that is being passed along?
Also, we need more information on the accident - is any information available? Are these private owner cars or a dealer? For example, My Z16 will show two minor accident reports - enough to scare most buyers off although selling the car will be my children's problem, not mine. However, both accidents are documented with paperwork and photographs before and during repair at the body shop. Only original GM parts used, etc. Accident #1 resulted in a new bumper cover; low impact but split original cover below turn signal. Accident #2 resulted in new paint for driver door; was backed into in a parking lot but no fiberglass repair. Things happen when you drive them!
Last thing - enjoy the hunt! I was in your exact spot back in 2005; having narrowed my search to two 2003 Z06s - an EB at a dealer in TX and a MY private party in NM. Was literally working through a spreadsheet that included one way airfare when a new member of our local Corvette club approached me about buying his Z06...he had just picked up a brand new C6 Z06. Puzzled, I asked him why he was selling his new C6 Z06 and that's when he revealed that he was sitting on a Z16...I looked at the car around noon the next day and it was in my garage by 2PM - deal done! Crazy, I was looking at cars a thousand miles away and found the best one less than 5 miles away!

Thank you for the response. I haven't exactly gotten the carfax from the 41k miles guy. but I know it hasn't been in an accident because he too spoke ill of cars with accidents. I think its safe to say that everyone here values a car with no accidents and 7k extra miles over a car with an accident. I think I've made my decision.
Unless someone on the WTB section just offers me a total steal lol!
With no negotiating possible, I would go with #2 hands down!
HOWEVER, if you have the opportunity to negotiate, I would go to owner #1 and offer a reasonable reduced price because of the accident history. Let him know you have another option available to you. If you can reduce the cost of #1 significantly (?) then maybe #1 becomes the choice.
Good luck!

I would not worry about a minor fender bender. Find out if the car was needed to be towed or if it was driven away from the accident. Many owners is not unusual with Vettes. $900 (including shipping) is not a huge difference in cost so I'd lean towards #2.
The difference in mileage is insignificant in the long run.
If you prefer one's color over the other, I'd go that way.
#2 resale, and likely condition, or less to repair/demod if you find any mods visible or hidden-what COLOR?
Why would you de-mod, unless we're talking tail light louvers? I bought a Corvette to go faster whenever that's possible, so free performance mods would enhance the value depending on condition.
