Hi - I usually paint my sets with POR-15 Caliper Paint. I usually don’t have to mask off but I have several paint brushes I use to get around the areas where I want it. I find it holds up great and easy to wipe down (brake dust/grime etc) without chipping or fading. Anyways, here’s a pic, I was actually painting some tonight so I snapped a quick pic halfway through:

Por15 has a legendary hard surface when cured, I was never able to save brushes tho.

Well it’s pretty dang bright red, I just touched up my C5Z calipers several days ago with it without issue. I’ve also used VHT caliper spray with luck but can be chippy without proper prep (like most things).

yeah it hardens pretty good that’s why I like it, I actually use the black on rotor hats (depending on rotors) and that stuff sticks and easy to wipe down, plus it’s pretty cheap on Amazon, not sure who else carries it. Almost as soon as I’m done brushing I wash the brushes with Lava soap and I’m good for another day.

I sprayed mine 1st with primer, that looked and adhered fantastic. Then I sprayed with Orange, was a little disappointed the way the Orange stuck to it.
I even tried to touch it up yesterday with the spray paint because I had them off, would not adhere too good. Will try the brush and Por15 next time.

They used to be around the corner from me in Whippany, but I think they moved. You washed the brushes with LAVA SOAP? And the POR15 came out? I thought you had to use something they made that was like Alien blood!
When I did the frame and other undercarriage parts on my Land Cruiser, anything that got on me stayed on....for months.

Which materials are we talking about that you sprayed?
How's your carpet holding up? Did you have any issues with how it was formed in certain areas? ( I got mine with the mass backing so maybe that caused some trouble)

Yeah, I'm always messing around in the garage so I keep plenty of those bars on hand - I just scrub them down right after I'm done otherwise they'd be ruined. I was gonna take another pic of the POR-15 once it dried but it looks just as glossy so no point I guess

Sorry, I guess my question was poorly worded. What color is listed on the can for the red you have, and where can POR 15 be purchased? Thanks.

POR-15 is a proprietary product that does not color match. There’s about 5 colors plus clear. When I first started using it, around 1998, there was only red, black and silver. It was a ‘big deal’ when they brought out their clear. It does do what they state however.

The Brake Calipers I had the issue with. The carpet is great no problems.

Manteca, sorry, I can’t believe I never saw your post. Somehow must have missed the e-mail.

Rotors and lines are Wilwood, pads are Wagner Thermoquiet.

Thanks for for the compliment.

JR
