The alternator in my '98 was making noises like birds chirping. My mechanic said it was the bearings that had gone south. I asked what it would cost for an aftermarket alternator with removal and installation. $550.00... Now I know from reading and researching posts on this forum that this isn't a difficult job but I have a physical handicap. I tried to do it anyway and was perfectly successful. Rebuild: $85.00 of the original Valeo alternator. Removal and reinstall by me = ZERO. The point of this story is that I wouldn't have been successful without this forum and it's generous members that so freely help and give advice..
My sincere thanks to all... No more birdies under the hood...

The forum is a great resource in offering technical advice for those that want to DIY when it comes to fixing the car. Not many things have gone wrong that someone else hasn’t also had the same problem.
