Is it ok to go with Dexos111 next oil change instead of Mobil1?
just asking
Because the C5 Y body LSX motor was designed with unique cooling design challenges ( runs Hotter by design and any other GM product ) If you want to maintain the oils additive package integrity, you have to use oil that has a " Very " specific heat sink additive to maintain the oils integrity when under the stress and shear of the operational temps found in a Corvette C5 and its bottom feeder cooling design.. Most oils do Not carry this heat sink signature., The C5 Corvette LSX oil spec is very specific. Lots of members here with 200K + , 300K + and 400K plus using Mobile one. In fact a 600K C5 was donated to GM using the maintenance schedule design by GM engineering. Mobil 1 is all I use. Ive seen the test results
Bill.. ..
Dexos1 is a GM standard for full synthetic motor oils. Dexos III is a standard for auto transmission fluids.
Most quality full synthetic engine oils in different viscosities meet the current Dexos1 oil standard and will be fine for Corvette engines that require a full synthetic oil. GM started using a full synthetic oil in Corvettes beginning in 1992 when the LT1 was introduced. Just look for the Dexos1 label on the containers.
Oil is oil. If it comes from a reputable brand, says "5w30 full synthetic," then you're going to be fine. Mobil 1 is fine. Royal purple is fine. Amsoil is fine. Castrol edge is fine. Valvoline is fine. And so on.

Could you please provide a link to that oil?
As far as I know, Dexos is not a brand of oil. Instead, it is an engine oil specification: Dexos 1 for gas engines and Dexos 2 for diesel engines, and it has to be a synthetic blend or full synthetic.
