Default Need advice long tb

Hi, short n sweet i have a 99 c5 a&a v3 3.8 pulley pretty much stock ls1, did the basic upgrade ps, damper, bracket
making 485 whp at 8 psi not bad but want a lil more lol
im looking long tb 1 7/8 x 3 no cats
my question is does it make a big diff if the collectors drop down from 3 x 2.5 to x pipe to connect to my b&b exhaust?
or should i stay 3" all the way back n get a new 3" exhaust ?
dont know if its worth changing everything or try n save my exhaust
thanks

Most long tube header systems come with 3" collectors, midpipes, and x-pipes that neck down to 2 1/2" to connect to the majority of aftermarket axleback systems.
You can get a complete 3" system, but unless you're planning to really up the boost, it would be overkill.
When I was at 475rwhp NA with heads, cam, and intake, LG actually recommended 1 3/4" header primaries for better exhaust velocity, and I have always ran 2 1/2" axlebacks.

My other car an LS2 GTO was at 553 rwhp and 522 torque with shorties and high flow cats and magnaflow exhaust. I went from a 3.0 pulley down to 2.8. But my main gain was going to Kook's 1 7/8 long tubes with high flow cats and 3 inch exhaust all the way back with street screamer exhaust. The car jumped up to 622 rwhp and 623 torque. So I gained 70 ish hp but 101 ft lbs. of torque. Just some food for thought for you.
