there really is no comparison to my c5z to this z/28. they are worlds apart. after logging some miles in the z28, then driving the c5z, the vette feels dated and soft, lots of body motions I never really noticed before. the z28 is very stiff but amazingly dampened. the steering feel, how the car reacts is incredible its far exceeding my expectations. I still love c5's and will prob be back in one as a designated track car sometime in the future.
Crazy what life is like when you log out of here. Stock c5, z51 and Z06 included drive like a couch with numb turn in and a need for more chassis stiffening.
I did not consider a 5th gen zl1, not even sure why. I did consider a 6th gen zl1, but they are still in the high 40's used, little more then I wanted to spend. I even considered a 6th gen ss/1LE. they are prob the best performance value right now, but something about them just didn't strike me. I'm not really into the straight line stuff anymore, last two years ive gotten into track days. the z28 will never be my main track car, but I will certainly hit a few track nights in America in it.

Funny about the ss/ 1le. I thought about one too, but the 6th gen in general doesn’t do much for me, despite it being a more advanced car. Sounds like you made the right choice!!
Reviving a old thread. So I’m back in a c5z. Had fun in the Camaro but sold it march of 2022. Found a 02 EB c5z local to me. 73k miles, one owner, bone stock. Identical spec to my old c5z. Smoking deal couldn’t say no. I Changed all fluids, and did new gm ls6 valve springs.

Well.. I gotta agree.. Some tweaks are advised 🙄 but likewise that girly Camaro requires as much or more tuning than any C5... Aren't they a lame duck?
I came so close to selling my C5Z for a 5th or 6th gen SS 1LE, because I just wanted to drive the "fun car" more, and like you, I have a car seat to haul, and a wife. As of now, I'm sticking with the C5Z.
But OP, now that you've gone to the other side and back, what can you share as pros and cons of the switch?

Im interested too. I love my C5Z but often think about a gen 6 ZL1.
The Z28 is an amazing car too and I would imagine bring a hefty price tag one day.
