Sticky Horn Button
& probably consider replacing stock audio console. One thing that I definitely need to figure out is my horn/air bag cover is sticky to the touch.
Obviously something was applied to it that caused this issue. Is this a common thing & is there a fix for this issue?

rag and watch it remove the STICKY. After it was all off, I used Mequiar's interior detailer cleaner and that is it. Like new!
CHEAP AND EASY!!

Using a light paste of Oxyclean will remove the worst of it and stabilize the remaining plastic. Wash off excess with water on a paper towel.
The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
First off I drain the power. I turn the steering wheel 90 degrees to where the top of the steering wheel is facing the drivers door because there are 2 T30 Torx screws holding it on from the back and now you can feel the holes above and below the steering column. Once I have it in this position I disconnect the battery for 24 hours (some say I’m over cautious but better safe than sorry (if you don’t drain the power this could set off the air bag)). After 24 hours, with the Positive and Negative disconnected from the battery I will touch the cables together for a few seconds, this will assure that any power stored in any capacitors will be drained of power. Now I use a T30 torx bit in a magnetic bit holder like you use in a drill. Getting the Torx Bit into the screw seems to be the hardest part, it has to be straight into the hole. Once it is in the screw I use a 1/4” ratchet wrench to turn it. When you have the 2 screws out, on the back side you will see a yellow plug in wire with a lift tab, unplug it. There is a red wire with a white sleeve on it that goes into the center of the steering wheel. Push the white sleeve in and turn it counter clockwise and it will come out Next there is a ground wire on a spade tab, unplug it and you will have it free.
Now I use Goof Off and a Microfiber rag to clean all of the old finish off. You can use a toothbrush to clean the small grooves but I usually just work the microfiber rag to work it out. Make sure you get it all off. Then I mask the back with blue painters tape. When I’m ready to paint I will wipe the front with isopropyl alcohol on a clean cotton cloth (like an old tee shirt)
Now you are ready too paint. On the Shale I used “Color Bond 156 GM SHALE”, it matched the interior color perfectly. (On my black one I used VHT BLACK VINYL Dye) FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS!!!! Multiple lite coats 10 minutes apart. Once I get an even coat I am happy with I let it sit at least 24 hours to dry. Now reassemble in the opposite order. DO NOT RECONNECT THE BATTERY UNTIL YOU ARE FINISHED!

The interior is 2 tone anyway and he picked the Color.
Personally I would like to pull it and put the darker color on it. It would be pretty easy to just spray over it with it only being 4 days old if I could find that color but, it’s his car and I think the 2 tone goes with the interior when you see the whole picture.
Certainly looks better than it did.
What do you think?

My whole reason for the post was that it seems people are unsure of what to do about the problem. I wanted to give a detailed explanation of how I did it so if someone else wanted to do it they had an explanation of what to do. I hope I give someone a solution that they can use to resolve the problem for themselves.

I did not strip mine all the way back prior to painting. Just made sure to use alcohol pre-paint.
