I have been getting the check engine fault that basically comes down to replacing the fuel cap. I got one from autozone (ac delco) but the fault came back twice. I have since reinstalled the older fuel cap which is questionable if it was installed properly the first time. Don’t ask!!! I haven’t driven it enough to see if the fault returns. Anyway just seeing what you guys have tried. Thanks.
Mine was doing the same thing. I bought a new cap but it didn't have the tether, So I removed the rubber "O" ring and put it on the existing cap. No more codes.
When you say “the fault that basically comes down to replacing the fuel cap” what is that code? An evap system leak can be a lot more than just a fuel cap
Friends, where can I buy quality and cheap parts?)
By cheap, you just mean priced less than a GM dealership?
Get the part number and buy from www.gmpartsdirect.com if you need factory made or for good aftermarket usually NAPA, Autozone etc have good comparable parts for much less cost.
My CEL went off when I was on a trip up to NJ, so I stopped in at the local Chevy dealer in my old neighborhood and bought a genuine GM 'vette gas cap. On the sealed plastic bag it came in, next to the GM logo and part number, was stamped, Made in Germany.
