I bought three C5s based partly on looks, partly on performance and partly on price. All three were great cars. I recently moved from a C5 to a C7 and so far have no regrets. I like the look and performance of the C7 and bought a used one to save a fortune on the price. If I could have kept the C5 as well as the C7 I probably would have done so.

I was on the fence between a C6 and a C5Z. I test drove a C6 and honestly wasn't impressed. The C5Z IMO not only looked better, but performed better as well. Felt like raw power was just a slam of the pedal away like it was asking to be abused. My wife is about to get her Vette and she test drove a C6Z, we both looked at each other and were like that's it? It was a bit more refined I'll give it that, but it didn't have the same feeling as driving the C5Z. She has actually ended up opting for a C7 so we are currently are on the hunt for a laguna seca blue one. It will be a nice addition and for some reason she thinks she will have the faster Vette. Not happening.
Interesting you felt the C6 Z was boring , it is rated as having 100 more HP over a 5 Z06. I really like the 6 Z06 looks and when I sat in one it seemed to fit a tall guy like me better than a 5 but do not care for a 6 in a VERT. Looks I like the HT 5 with the top on and prefering the FRC and the way the 5 cars look with top down. The 5's look better modded with the right wheels and stuff but a C6Z in HT looks great stock with maybe just ZR1 rims.... That is the thing I like about the 6 Z6 in HT, it is great looking stock but the fact the heads should be pulled is what really kills the car on the second hand market. The GS would be the ticket in a 6 but they added those stupid luvers to the side which hurts the looks IMO of a great package for the average Joe...
It just looks like a 5 Vert I can turn into a HT is the car for me is all....

Six years ago most C6's were above my price point. I did how ever find an 05 priced like a C5. Then I remembered how I hated the one previous Corvette I bought that was automatic .Didn't want the problems associated with the first year after the change and lack of paddle shifters. Took my time and eventually found an 02 vert m6. The decision was more about $$ than style for me.

I just bought a C5 last year because I have always loved the look. There is no doubt that the C6 and C7 are better performers, but I just don’t like the looks of them. To me the C7 just doesn’t look like a Corvette.

I think any lowered, fixed roof C5 is the best looking modern Vette. See Efx's post up there ^^. Perfect!

My wife and I had a C3, C5 and now a C7. Looks wise, my preference is in that order. (C3 the best) As far as performance, C7 is way faster, but I think the C5 would be very close if the tranny shifted better. When going 60 in our C5, if you floor it, it would down shift in each gear while the C7 skips right to the correct gear.
Nope, the C-7 simply would kick the C-5s butt, regardless of the transmission.
I own both, and there is no comparison.

I bought my C5 based on looks. I'm old school and I can't get past the models that don't have hidden headlights. Maybe in another 20 years I'll mellow out ...
As far as horsepower, I don't use 350, so I don't know what 460 will get me. I'm not going to spend a lot of money for bragging rights.

I bought my 99 c5 new in 1998. I love the look of it. I never liked the c6 although the c6 zr1 is nice. I never really liked the c7 enough to swap my c5 out for one. I do like the c7 z06 but still it does not push me over the edge for a swap...so I spent about 5000 on a supercharger to bring my c5 ho up to the current decade. Now it will still look great and be fast to boot...plus no new car payments and high ins

It's all down to the fact that "beauty is in the eye of the beholder!".................(The thread title is ONLY asking about looks, not power or handling!)
This is my 1st Vette & l bought it for 3 reasons, price & colour (Brit spelling) & the black wheels.
l wasn't actually in the market for a sports car, l just saw it on Craigslist & had to have it.
The wife says it makes my "man-tackle" look bigger, but WTF does she know about cars, she drives a Prius!!!.....

Truth is for me I do not like a C5 coupe " seen a few modded that were good " but think a Vert and HT when done right are awesome looking. I went and looked at a magnetic red with black interior and think with the right wheels and stance that is the one I like the best but this one was a auto....

And to answer your question: no, I bought it because it's the most fun.

I cross shopped C5s and C6s. I like the smooth flowy lines and monochromatic scheme of the C5 better. I spent less on the car and put some $s into it take add some power. I know the C7 is a better performer but I don't like the looks. I didn't really want to spend C7 money either.

I didn't as I wasn't in that $ market, but I would. I like the C5 plenty for the money. The C6 is also nice, unsure if it'd be where my money would go at that price point though (maybe still a C5Z, maybe an E46 M3). The C7 is not my taste at all.
