Default more poetry

Recently another forum member posted a poem that he had written to his wife, explaining (successfully, I think) why he should buy a Corvette. I started thinking about writing some prose myself, and today, for some reason, the creative juices were flowing, and I composed the free verse that you will see below. I wrote it to my trusty and beloved C5, which never fails to make me smile. I very rarely write poetry, but here it is, for better or verse:

As I turn the key, my heart beats, and so does yours.
Though the darkness pervades us, my eyes light up, and yours do the same.
Your Rich Corinthian Leather envelops me.
Welcome to Fantasy Island.
Boss! De plane! De plane!

Wait, how did that guy get into my poem?
And the leather is neither rich nor Corinthian.
Now, where was I ...
The lovingly placed driveway stones -- though they
are gray, square, dull, lifeless -- allow a graceful and silent exit
from the drive
onto the roadway that leads to limitless possibilities.
As we reach cruising altitude, I sense that something is not right.
It's the damned tires. They're flat spotted again.
We need to get out more.
The straightaways bring excitement, but no less so than the curves and hills and canyons.
Every intersection and junction brings a choice.
Today I choose the paths that bring us closer to solitude.
One by one, the lanes that surround us gradually disappear, until only two remain.
The emptiness of the road does not bring me loneliness, for my companion is with me.
The farther I travel, the more the lane narrows, yet my mind remains wide open.
The forest around us provides peace and tranquility,
as well as homes for many species of birds and small mammals!
Finally, two roads diverged in a wood, and I —
I took the one less traveled by.
And that one led to a dead end, so I had to turn around and take the other one.
With each passing mile, my worries and fears dissipate.
The trip has restored me to serenity.
Now I long for the people and animals that I call my family and friends.
The same roads that took me on this journey now provide the path that takes me home again.
At this moment, all in my world is well.
Tomorrow there will be a new morning, and I will see that world through fresh eyes.

Admirable composition sir! Longfellow and Keats would be proud. It got me thinking,so I submit my effort. It is far from poetry or prose, just a poem. It even rhymes. I titled it "The Subtle Bribe". Here goes:

To my beautiful Wife

Please check out this C5 Vette
Oh my darling lovely pet.
I found it on the internet.
It's the one I want to get.
Supposed to be fast as a jet.
That motor's really built I bet!

I haven't heard from the seller yet
but if my generous offer's met
you'll no longer have to fret.
We won't be going into debt;
We'll have the cash to enlarge your set!

Your adoring Husband XXXOOO

Thanks. I like your rhyming poem as well.

Who knows when I'll get that creative literary feeling again, but next time I think I'll try something simpler, maybe Haiku!?

Ha! I actually did come up with an original limerick once, but it has absolutely nothing to do with Corvettes, so I'll have to find another forum for that one.
