Well, a lot of different thoughts here. The only reason I am putting the Z06 grill screen in place and removing the fog light surround was to get fresh air (cooler hopefully) to the air intake. It has nothing to do with a more efficient intake or cooling the engine compartment. Those are both a totally different discussion. I think opening up the front intakes will accomplish my intent. I think it was mentioned that the Z06 was open behind the screens. I'm still curious if that is the case, and what the fog light surround is like on the Z06, if there even is one? I don't know anybody that has a Z06 to check.

So you drilled 4 holes in the wrong place?
This is how and where you should have drilled holes to get more fresh air....drilling 4 holes in that area did not get you "max fresh air"
Drilling 32 holes in the air box lid would do 8 times more than what you did...
like this...

But please continue to do what makes you happy....

Not 4 holes .... eight. And they are in the 'right' place. The sum of all openings in the air box is 2x greater than the area of the throttle body opening, so additional holes are unnecessary. And I have the box sealed off from the engine compartment so I am quite happy that I am getting max fresh air to the intake. Cheers.

I am thrilled for you...have a nice day...

oh btw sir...just curious since you are an engineer..right? what flow chart software did you use to determine where the "right place" was located and what type instrument did you put in the throttle body to pick up the air flow and send it to the software...

How do you define 'happy'? Is there a noticeable performance gain with the black wing? For me (drilled holes underneath) , I just wanted some satisfaction that I was getting max fresh air to the intake. I never expected a noticeable hp gain. Didn't get one either. Ha!
Yes...i calculated an increase of 30-35 hp with the additiion of my Blackwing...now go get one

I had a Z, and added fogs to it, but did not disturb the screens. Behind the screens is no ductwork or anything else to channel fresh air to the intake. The air just enter’s that area of the engine compartment...that’s all.

An alternative to stock Z06 screens. Racemesh. They are not cheap however.

I have these on my Electron Blue '02 coupe. I like the stainless steel against the EB. Found them on EB for ~ $100.
