Bringing home a C5 in nasty winter weather should be mandatory I think
Drove mine home from Tampa to Pittsburgh last January basically "scud running" and avoiding snowstorms. Nice grab! And good call on getting the car you actually want.
Oh god! Now you did it! OK, but seriously, congrats on sticking to your guns and waiting for the car you really wanted. My C5 and yours, exterior wise, are identical. My interiior is black and firethorn. The C5 vert with a 6 spd is absolutely, in my opinion, the most fun you can have with your clothes on! Put on some good tunes, drop the top, and take a ride on a beautiful day. It is hard to get better than that! Now comes the tough part! A black vette, or any black car for that matter, is a nightmare to keep looking good. The positive is that a black C5 is positively evil looking going down the road in my humble opinion. I still get looks and comments constantly on my '99 vert! So, best wishes to you and enjoy!!!
Good call on the M6 + 'vert. Now get yourself a better shifter. I got an MGW. From what I read, the C6 shifter is also good. It makes a real difference.
Well after a long, long time looking at C5's I finally found one and pulled the trigger on this 2003. Typical bills, kids in college, I read as much info. as I could because I wanted to try to buy the best I could since repairs and extra costs would have to come at a minimum. Quite frankly reading this forum and some of the issues people have with these cars had prevented me from pulling the trigger many times before. Played around with the C4's for a while but kept coming back to the C5 due to the comfort and more modern driving experience. I was pretty much set on wanting a 'Vert with 6 spd. Was almost kicking myself for passing up some great deals over the years on coupes or automatics, but thanks to reading this forum, most members feel that you should stick to your guns and get what you want or you will always regret it, so I did. I pretty much decided it had to be an EB or CE 'vert. Well, as fate would have it saw a picture of this one and it just struck me. Decided, on a whim, to take a look at it in person and I was hooked on black.
Has 30k, same owner since '06 with dealer service records, convertible and it is my 6 spd. Picked it up and made it back home in some rather bad weather, but had to do it before the weather turned super nasty. She is all washed up and now in hibernation. But this is the year I am looking forward to spring! Yep, pictured is 'the boy' in my name, quite a few years older than when this journey started, but better late than never.
Big Congratulations! Got my 2000 Convertible just a few months ago myself. I still can't believe I have a Corvette in the garage.
