Default Changed fluids today

I replaced the transmission fluid with Redline D4 also changed the diff Redline 75w90.
My car has only 8k mi. and was very stiff and notchy shifting. I was surprised how much smoother and easier shifting it is now.
Also added speed bleeders and flushed the brakes.
Now I need to change all the tire pressure sensors on CCW's they only lasted 6 yrs. and 4k mi.
Now I need to put some miles on this car this year. That's the plan.

Keep in mind that changing transmission fluid by dropping the pan and replacing the filter actually removes about half the fluid in the transmission. The other half stays in the torque converter and other works.

I changed the fluid in mine when I got it in 2009 and then three more times so far, about once every six track days.

I also use Red Line D4 ATF, but added a B&M finned aluminum transmission pan at the second fluid change. The B&M pan has about two quarts more capacity-

Enjoy.

"Stiff and notchy shifting" implies a manual transmission, jim993, but you're right about the automatics.

The car looks great, but in my opinion,I think it would look a lo better without the bra.
Question, I have not considered changing the trans fluid yet, but I am wondering, since I do not see a filler tube in the engine area, how do you refill the transmission?

Not 100% sure whether the most modern fluids require any sort of additive, feel free to research that yourself.

I agree on the bra, I would get a clear film bra, expensive but looks good and protects front

Its a pain in the *** changing the tranny and diff, a lift would make it a breeze. Get those fluids changed, car would be more reliable and she would thank you also hehe

Changing the fluid and filter on a C5 A4 is fairly easy, but there are specific procedures to insure that the fluid level is correct after the change:
After replacing the filter and bolting the pan back up, fill with new fluid to the drain/ check level plug hole. Then start the engine and leave it running with the transmission in PARK.

Immediately add fluid through the drain/ check level plug hole until fluid flows out of the plug hole. It may take as much as another couple of quarts.

With your foot holding the brakes, cycle the transmission through all the gears, then back to PARK.

Go back underneath and make sure that fluid is still dribbling out of the fill/ check level plug hole. You might have to add some.

With the engine still running and the transmission in PARK, monitor transmission temperature on the DIC. When transmission temperature rises to 122 F, put the plug in the fill/ Check level hole. Keep a pan under the hole, fluid will dribble out as the transmission temperature rises.

Do NOT shut the engine down until the plug is in the fill/ check level hole. If you do, HOT fluid will gush out and the transmission will be low on fluid.

I recommend full synthetic fluid.

Keep in mind that the above procedure drains about half the fluid in the A4. The other half is in the torque converter and other works.

You will need a small hand pump to pump the fluid into the fill/ check level hole.

Very nice, low mileage car. Good preventative maintenance you did on the car.
