Hey guys I have base 97 c5 oem muffler. I have opportunity to get Zo6 Titanium muffler for good price for about $250.00. The Zo6 muffler is suppose to be 25lbs lighter and mot likely
has a better flow than base muffler. My question is is it worth to spend $250.00 for ZO6 muffler?
What benefits will i gain with just muffler ?
My car is all stock no modifications.
Depends. Do you want some weight reduction, some better sound, and some better looks, for $250? I doubt it'll give you anything for horsepower that you can feel with your butt.

not really much difference other than weight... the sound change is negligible and you will not notice the weight savings when driving the car, the tips do look a little better though... it is a good price but the money would be better spent towards an aftermarket exhaust in my opinion
I have had stock and Z06 and straight pipes. The jump from stock to Z06 while not huge is only negligible when compared to no muffler. Z06 vs stock is a significant change for a 97, in the right direction!

my z06 was far too quiet when it was stock, I disliked the exhaust so much that it was one of the first things I got rid of... so we will just have to agree to disagree... $250 is not a bad price compared to what they normally go for but if it were me I would put that money towards something that would give the car more grunt than what the z06 ti's will
The real question is do you want a louder sounding car or one that is better looking (tips). Almost all cat back exhaust with two exceptions (straight pipes) will not add any more hp. Since I am into autocrossing, 25lbs does make a difference and the WOT sound is a little better

When I got my 03 Z06 in 03, one of the first things I did was to go to straight pipes. Z06 also has different resonant space along with less sound insulation than a coupe so even the same exhaust sounds different. I have owned both coupe and Z06, even both at same time. I have tried all stock and straight pipe exhausts in all combinations in these cars and I can tell you with out any doubt that there is a definitive difference between the stock coupe exhaust and the Z06 exhaust when installed on an otherwise stock coupe.
I just paid $300 for a "modded set". I read they save 17lb per-side and have 30% less backpressure. The note is a little lower/throatier than what I had before - but overall also a bit quieter. I also seem to have lost some of the "downshift crackle" that I had with my old ones. Old ones were aftermarket but was never able to figure out who made them. Even with them off the car we looked all over and found no markings....
