Even though I don't drive my car a lot, I just enjoy having it and tinkering with it. Besides, what else would I do with the money?

Even if I only drove my Z06 several hundred miles each month I would not sell it. Not in your shoes, so only you know the answer

Corvettes are not Ferrari’s. I drive mine mostly on weekends. It goes to the gym, grocery store, daughter’s dance class, etc. If you don’t have the inclination to drive it or it’s only for special occasions, you are wasting your money. Maybe you have high self esteem and don’t need the boost of an iconic car. Mazel Tov! Corvettes are in most cases cars to be driven rather than preserved and/or worshipped. The guys/gals who built them would kick you in the n$ts if you tried to get to fancy with whatbisba GM sports car. This is as good as it’s gonna get! Enjoy it!

Financially, the cash flow for getting rid of a Corvette is a lot better than for getting rid of a wife! ;-)

Just drive it

Yes, it is time for you to sell. I drive mine....five days a week and do ALL the work on it myself. Hasn't seen a dealership in nine years.

Well said!!!
Leno drives real collectibles, no benefit to worshipping these things, its just a car .

Op if you still enjoy it then hang onto it. When "youre done youll know".
Mine sits a lot also (medical) and is bad for it but sure am glad when I get to turn the key and go hammer on it.

Storing them will not keep them from falling apart or deteriorating..may as well use it

You are not going to change your driving habits because someone here says to do so. ( Drive it more ) Only you can weigh the merits of keeping the car. Since you are concerned about the 700 dollars in insurance and taxes, I would say sell it.. But of course its just my opinion based on the fact that you are even asking.. looks like you want someone to bump you off the fence. My bump is to sell it. since its not worth 700 a year to you to drive it.

Just my opinion.. Now is the time to sell it,, lots of buyers out there.

Ever time I've asked myself if it was time to sell (insert vehicle here), it was time to sell as I always ended up selling it...

I think the question is since you hardly drive the car now - will you really miss it? Someone that drives their C5 daily or at least a lot during the warmer seasons...they would miss it because it's part of their lives more often...but in your case, you get a (sporadic at best) enjoyment so infrequently...so to me, since you barely ever sit in it, I would make the wife happy and get something you BOTH would enjoy...and enjoy more often...

If a new car is not necessary - then take the money from selling the C5 and take her on a dream vacation... You only live once - create the unforgettable memories now, before it's too late...

I understand your points, but I'm not sure if I agree or not. Long story short, I had the use of a 2 car garage, at my mother's house, until she was stricken with dementia, and had to move to a nursing facility. The house was sold, because she would no longer be able to live by herself, and also because the money was needed to fund her care at the home. I lost my garage space there, and had to either build an addition to the garage at my house, or do the unthinkable, and sell my Corvette and my Camaro.

I opted to build the addition, HOWEVER, zoning regulations in my area, wouldn't allow me to build an addition that was as wide as the former garage, so space (width wise) was TIGHT, for 2 cars to fit. It wasn't easy, but I lived with it for several years. However, after I retired, and no longer was commuting to work, using both of the cars, I began to wonder if the hassle was worth it. I opted to sell the Camaro, about 4 years ago. Do I regret it? Yeah, sometimes I do, as I feel that you can't have too many toys. But at least I don't have to jockey and squeeze two cars, a riding lawn mower, a snow blower, and a push mower, into a 1.5 car garage.....

I started keeping a driving log last year in 2018 I drove my C-5 a total of 28 times I drove my 69 Corvette a total of 14 times I should’ve kept a driving log on my Miata which I drove pretty much constantly during the summer months the numbers seem very low to me but there’s only so many nice days you could really enjoy the car between those miles or drives I was able to accumulate around 3600 miles on the C5 maybe a little bit over I’d have to look and I believe around 1100 miles on that 69.

If I didn’t have three vehicles to choose from for leisure driving the numbers will probably be higher unfortunately that’s just kind of what I have to work with. Or Fortunately. The final remainder of my driving was in my daily driver Florida escape

Default Update

Well, I put the 04 up for sale in the middle of May. Not a lot of response. In the meantime, the weather turned dramatically hotter.
I discovered that my new to me 2012 GS convertible is rather uncomfortable driving with the top down in the heat. So, I started driving the 04 during the day. Love the C6 vert, but, can't take the daytime heat with the top down.
I did note that I seem to be driving the 04 more than the GS. I think I miss the manual trans. and I don't miss the sun baking my head.
I have decided I will keep the 04 for a while. Insurance is now $200/year and the taxes are $175/year. So the only added expense is gas. Who knows. It may even increase a little bit after the C8 comes out

I'm with the "drive it" crowd.I thought of selling my 2001 (I've got a C-7 too) a couple o month ago. I actually built the car ,as it was a 'flood car', After a bunch of idiots who knew virtually nothing about my car, yet proceeded to bad mouth a vehicle they'd never seen let alone drive. I decided to keep the car and drive the wheels off it. Likely one of the best decisions I've made when dealing with cars.

Totally agree. Time to sell the vette and maybe the strange due to wife’s problems. Get a car that both will enjoy. To the moron who said to loose the wife, did you not read she has health issues. If meant as a joke truly not funny at all. I would sell my vette if I could have my wife back if only for five minutes.

It's not the quantity of miles you drive your Corvette, it's the quality of miles. I've driven my C5Z less than 1,000 miles, since I purchased it last October, but I thoroughly enjoyed every single one.
