Time to sell?
I have had my 2004 CE coupe for one full year. Took it in Thursday for the annual inspection.
No problems, but, the service writer pointed out that I had only driven a total of 1,030 miles during the year.
Now I am wondering if it is really worth the effort and expense to keep a car that is so rarely used.
Our car tax starts in June so I need to make a decision fairly quickly. Anyone else in a similar situation?
i really enjoy the car, just not too often.
I dont drive my car much more than that, you cant put a price on the satisfaction and therapy my car gives me. If you are even asking the question, possible you lost interest in the ride.

You may be right.
I am averaging less than 300 miles/month on my DD. Wife thinks I ought to sell that too.
Sucks getting old.
I do less than 2000 miles/year on my vert. Thought about selling it but was unable to identify a replacement I'd like more (and sometimes I don't want to drive my Ram Hemi).

If you don’t have the desire to drive the car more, then it is time to sell it. However, unless there are unusual circumstances that prevent you from driving the car more, I’d recommend getting behind the wheel and taking the car for a long drive.

Looks like $700/year for taxes and insurance.
Not a lot of money, but, it sits under cover in the driveway most of the time.
I try to start it once a week and mostly uncover it to wash it. Just seems like such a waste.
I think it would be better served with someone who could actually use it and enjoy it.
Still thinking about what direction I should go. Selling it would make the wife happy.
Keeping it not so much. She doesn't go in the car at all. She had a stroke a while back and
Corvette entry/exit is difficult for her. She doesn't even like my DD Mustang GT vert. So, most of our travel is via her Toyota Avalon.

I bought my '01 new, in July of 2001. It now has about 27,000 miles on it. It's been paid for, for 16 years, has nothing wrong with it, and other than plates and insurance, it doesn't cost me anything.....

Question. Why did you buy the Corvette? I think it might be worth you reexamining your motives whatever they may have been.
With that said, you and I have cars that compete for our attention; in my case it is an automatic '05 BMW 325ci convertible and my '01 6M Corvette convertible. I winter mothball (on a battery tender and off the insurance) the lower miles (and more expensive to replace convertible top) BMW; and I drive the Corvette year round weather permitting (and when not, I cover it). Winter days I don't want to drive the Corvette I drive our "beater" Corolla. So I manage to drive 3 cars throughout the year; while my wife has her Highlander that she daily drives. Currently, the BMW is my M-F car and the Corvette my weekend car. I put over 11,000 miles on my Corvette since December '17.
So unless you need the money, my advice would be to pay your insurance for one more year and see if you can drive and enjoy both your Mustang and Corvette. If you can't find the time to enjoy both your Mustang and Corvette then you should sell a car (or possibly sell both should you want to get a performance sedan that both you and your wife like...after all happy wife, happy wife). Last year my younger brother bought a '08 Mercedes CLS and he loves it.
Sell it.. Get out from under it. Your wife has a problem and its time to look to helping her. Buy something for her that she will like and be comfortable in. You only live once........and so will she. There's more to life than Corvettes.

I will be keeping mine also for many more years.....
I bought an 04 new and it has about 28K today and only gets driven for weekend fun...
Having other vehicles for daily duties allows me to keep this car....
Besides, I don't own a boat or a bike so it doesn't cost a lot to keep....

I bought the car because I have always owned a Corvette (except when my kids were in college).
I knew my wife wouldn't be driving in it too often. I just never expected to put only 80 miles/month average on it.
That said, it really isn't a question of money. The car doesn't deserve to be stuck in my driveway. And, I really
need to address the discussion we have when I suggest we take it out or take it to the club meeting.
Can I live without it? Yeah, life goes on for many w/o their favorite toy. Maybe I am just getting too old to play with
some of my toys anymore (that is my wife's opinion).
When I get back from our Easter trip, I'll decide what to do.
Thanks for all the opinions and suggestions. Except the one about getting rid of the wife. It would be way more costly than losing the car!
I retired in January 2016 and rarely drove my daily driver 2011 Tacoma Crewcab, afterwards. Sold the Tacoma and bought a nice musclecar to enjoy. That didn't scratch my itch so I sold it and bought another Corvette, last October. Tags, inspection, and insurance is less than $350/yr. Have only driven my C5Z around 1,000 miles since I bought it but every time I do, it feels great. My wife hated Corvettes and wouldn't even sit in my other ones but she's ridden in this one and is starting to really like it, even purchased a CC ducktail rear bumper for the car.
My wife owns a 2010 Camry SE and we drive it, most of the time. But, as most everyone on this site already knows,Life is definitely better with a Corvette.(bought my first one, 50yrs ago)
