a C5 with exhaust, cold air intake and a mild - moderate cam (and tuned)
or a C6 completely stock?
whats the better car in your opinion, and why?
there's not a lot of choices over here, and these are sort of my options for the same money all in (have a budget I have to stick to) an Im having a really hard time deciding, and these are what I have narrowed my choices down to.
after basically just a weekend cruising car, want something with a bit of a rumble and that goes well when you occaisionally put your foot down.
Telling you my budget won't help, Im on the other side of the world and these didnt come here new - so pricing on them is a bit silly. but the options as per my first post are all within a thousand bucks or less
C5 im looking 2001 - 2004
C6 would be no later than 2007 for my budget.
mileage all the options Ive narrawed down to are between 40k and 55kmiles
C6 if you can afford it. More refined car in my opinion. I like the stock motor idea. Gives you a clean slate. Cams can be a plus.... or a big headache.
Go for completely stock over modified any day: no matter the car. But that's just me. Here is why- as a general rule, people who modify cars (other than purely cosmetic) are more likely than not looking to push the performance envelope meaning the car has likely seen some pretty hard miles. Hard miles matter. Next, no matter how well documented, you are left to wonder the workmanship on the performance modifications.
C5, but by the nature of this forum (the C5 forum) you're bound to get responders such as myself, who are biased. I have, and love, a C5, have driven, and been unimpressed by, a C6. The 6 may be more refined, but much of that refinement is in even more electronics, guaranteed to eventually fail, at which point GM will do what they've done with the C5, wash their hands of it.

Main reason I purchased my C5Z. All of that electronics sophistication will come with a huge cost, eventually. Heck, it's already started, with quite a few of those cars.
thanks for the input! - Man, Id love a Z!!! but yeah outta my range sadly!
there was an '05 C6 on that list - is that less desirable because it has the 4speed auto rather than the 6speed Im guessing? - is completely stock. ($34k) about 50k miles
I know of an extremely tidy 01 6sp manual with cosmetic extras - wheels, front lip spoiler, rear spoiler and side skirts from a Z06, but mechanically stock apart from Z06 brake rotors ($32k) about 50k miles
theres a couple other options that are slightly less desirable to me - an '02 auto (cheaper though at $26k, but about 66k miles)
Does anyone recommend any parts places for vette's? Id like to price up doing mods myself on a stock car, but not sure what companies in the USA are good to deal with for quality parts that dont break the bank????

Having owned both in the past....when it came time for me to purchase my 15th Vette, I chose the C5 with exhaust, cold air intake and a mild - moderate cam (and tuned) over the stock C6. Partially because C6 is my least favorite Corvette styling and I think the C5 is just about the best looking..... Also the performance of my C5 with the above same mods is amazing....
