Hello all! This is my first post and I am relatively new to the forum. At just 18 years old I was able to purchase a 1997 C5 Corvette. I found this one for a reasonable price with only 47,000 miles on it! The color of this car is just mesmerizing, I believe its called Nassau Blue Metallic. From what I read this is a pretty special color for the earlier C5 generation. Very happy with my purchase... cant wait to take it out this summer. I pray that it stays in great shape and is reliable, as it is my daily driver now. I almost feel guilty putting miles on it.
Welcome, that is one of my favorite colors, car looks beautiful. I remember when I turned 18 and bought my first Corvette, a 1972 Stingray. Good luck with your new baby. This site has a lot of great, knowledgeable people who can provide a tremendous amount of help.
It will make that "necessary evil" look a lot better on your car. As it is, you might have the plate bolted into the wrong holes because it looks like it's protruding above the recess!
Enjoy your vette, mine has brought me a lot of grins!
Well, now you've gone and don it!!! Once you have one, the suckers "get into your blood"... Congratulations on finding what looks like a really nice C5. Love the color, but I'm kind of partial to blue. Also, you're some sort of rarity! FIRST post AND you included PICTURES AND filled in your profile?!? I damn near fainted!
And as for driving it.... according to a design engineer who was here for years that worked on the C5 design team; they were designed to run for an AVERAGE of 200k (with proper maintenance of course) You bought it to use so just and enjoy!
Eighteen and a Corvette owner? I would have been in heaven. Great looking car. Take care of it, don't beat it and it could be a car you keep for the rest of your life.
Welcome to the forum.. nice car... I too owned a Corvette when I was 18. I never had a bad experiencer but many many very good experiences. Having a Corvette and being a senior in high school had many benefits. Enjoy your car, and keep in mind that it can be fun, define your youth but it could also effect the rest of your life with a bad decision.
