Default What mod will give me the most bang for the buck...

Ok I know I am going to get tons of opinions on what to do to improve the performance of my base 02. I want to hear them all. From mild to wild. On the car currently I have a Halltech Stinger CAI and a GHL exhaust. It has 53500 on the clock and is a street car. Basically I want to improve what is already good but still keep the car streetable. I know the car is perfect as is but I am a car guy and want something more. I know I don’t need to modify a thing, but I want too. Anything from bolt ons, to engine mods etc. All the help you can give is appreciated.

Supercharger, or nitrous oxide.

Budget? With the mods you have I'd go with a good tune, but if you have a good budget maybe heads/mild cam, headers and rear gears.

I was going to post in your other thread, but I'll agree with the gears and a converter. Most people don't realize how much of a difference it'll make. It's not simply the power, but you really change how the car behaves. Nowhere near as sloppy. -not to say it's sloppy now.....you get what I mean! lol

Fix every issue with the car, from minor to major. Then start working on the modification You'd be amazing sometimes how fixing the stupid little things can truly change how you feel about the car.

I know that's not the flashy answer you're looking for, but sometimes that truly helps.

I was going to ask if was A4 with 273 gears....this is absolutely a real improvement if you go from 273s to 342s and a stall.
It will feel like a supercharger.... plus it is a good starting point for more or you could leave it at that. I did this and it felt like a new car. Then of course I did much more but either way those gears gotta go.

Headers woke mine up a good bit.

Honestly one one of my favorite things was ditching the stock clutch and going to a twin disc

Checked my code tonight...it is the 273 gears. As far as changing the gears, do I need to buy a brand new gear box, or can I just buy the gears and swap them out, then add a torque converter?

Did you change the heads as well or just add headers?

I did the whole differential from Tranzilla, I know nothing about setting new gears up but I’ve read it’s tricky and takes special tools. Plus if I remember right the regular diff won’t take the bigger gears, also you would want the “three rib” diff. Be aware you will have to adjust shift points with a tune (hand held tuner at least) or you will hit the rev limiter. This is an awesome jump up from 273 gears. Good luck

On my L98 Iroc, I had a bolt on, cammed L98, full exhaust, and a 2.77 gear. Upgraded to a 3.27, corvette shift kit and a 2400 stall and it was EASILY the biggest performance gain. Ultimately went 383....that of course was pretty big, lol.

Upgrade your suspension, most bang for buck that you can actually use every time you drive.

Obviously "The best bang for the buck" is to leave the vehicle unmolested. The next owner will appreciate an original Corvette far more than one with bolted on mail order parts installed by an amateur. That's not for everyone BUT no doubt it is the best bang for the buck. Read the for sale ads. Every day they say $30,000 invested, asking $12,000 or best offer.

Now if your "bang" is making noise or being an exhibitionist follow the previous postings closely.

I will have to agree with post #17. Without a ton of cash you will never be able to keep up with todays sport models. There are many 500 - 600 HP cars or better on the streets today. I would suggest a good detail of car and engine bay, add aftermarket wheels, maintain and enjoy. I am close to 8K upside down on my C6 now.

You should change your handle to “oem and nothing else” lol.
