Default "Parking" lights?

Okay, I admit to being really uneducated here, but where exactly are my front "parking" lights? I know I have running lights, I see them. I know I have fog lights, I see them. But when I turn on the "park" lights, the running lights turn off and nothing else in front turns on!! I know the circuit is active because the taillights and rear license lights come on. Do I have two dead bulbs somewhere? Are the running lights also supposed to be the parking lights and the circuit is fouled up? Help!!

The front OEM bulbs that handle the running lights have two filaments:
  • One for the DRL/Turn Signal/Hazard
  • One for the Parking Light

Does sound unusual that both bulbs have burned out filaments. but you might try installing fresh front bulbs. Do the front turn signal lights work? The turn signals and the DRL's use the same (brighter) filament in the bulbs. Parking lights use the lower brightness filaments.

So what's the bad news about getting these bulbs out? I suppose the front end has to be removed...??

Yes, front turns work, so it sounds like I need a pair of front bulbs!!

Probably the easiest way is to go through the bottom access panels:

I don't remove that lower panel to replace them. I either go in through the brake duct (pushing it down away from the fascia and reaching my arm through there) or raise the headlamp manually with the motor **** (you need to remove the motor connector before doing this) and reaching deep under the DRL and remove the bulb that way.

If a bulb is burned out you will typically know. Your signal lamps would be "fast". If it's fast one way but not the other then whatever side it's "fast" on is the side a bulb is burned. If they're fast both - relatively rare but wouldn't be completely out of the ordinary - then both bulbs may be burned. This "fast" function occurs primarily because of what c4cruiser described.

Interesting! But, I'm a fat old man and my arms & hands wouldn't likely fit through the brake duct! I might go through the headlight cave, but it's in a shop right now, so the easiest way for me to do it is to tell them I need a pair of bulbs installed while it's on their rack...

Thanks for your suggestions, Velocity Vette!

That would be the case if the burned out filament were the DRL/Turn Signal/Hazard one in the front, or the Brake Light/Turn Signal/Hazard in the rear, but not if the affected filament is the Parking Lights one.

As per the OP, both sides have DRL/Turn Signal/Hazard lights working fine. It is the Parking Lights he is complaining about, so there can't be hyperflashing in this case
