I’m not impressed with the C8. A nice C5 compared to the C8 for 70K?
As far as the appearance goes, I think they went WAY wrong.
The front is way too high, not aerodynamic looking at all.
After only 5 people in the audience at the introduction clapped,
the presenter went and hid under the car.

You think a 20 year old car prices are about to drop??? Sorry to disappoint but they are already down LOL I found my C5Z with 60K for $17000. C5's are the American version of Import Hondas for young "gear heads".
C7 prices will plummet and possibly C6 prices.

C5Z is all the vette I need around town.
C6Z better/faster as a dual purpose street/track car.
Maybe in a few years a lease return C8 extended warranty for $?
I'll like the C8 more when they beat the factory Fords and Porsches road racing.

C5 of Year Finalist (performance mods) 2019
Nope, will only affect C7 prices. C5 is not going to drop. C5 is at the bottom already. I'm not suddenly discounting my C5 that is for sale. I am waiting for all the tire kickers to try to use the C8 to get my $ down, though.

Yep, front and rear have storage.

I agree C5 prices won't drop due to the release of the C8. If anything the C8 might generate some interest in Corvettes again which might even raise prices on good C5s and C6s. I think C7 prices will dump. Take a look at Kerbeck dealer pricing incentives today on new C7s. 12% off, plus another $3,000 off if you own a Vette in the family already, plus $1,000 off if you finance through GM with 2.9% financing. Brings the base Vette down into the $40s. C8 0-60 in less than 3 seconds? A C5 Z06 with a couple of mods will hang with it for less than half the price. C5 performance bargain of all time in my opinion and easy to work on.

who cares about storage, I'd cut the rear storage area out and install a set of turbos... I don't like the c7, there are some things I don't like about the c8 but overall it's pretty sweet

Agreed, the C8 is a beautiful car overall, and with the performance of a supercar for <$60K base you can't beat it. I'm just sorry I can't buy one now and have to wait for the used market.

C8 looks like a mash up of existing exotics/c7 tails etc. not saying it looks bad, but aesthetically inside/outside eh... Bargain is very good for what you get is seemingly
I personally like the smoother cleaner design of the c4/5/6 with less "weird" edges they'll age better over time. I also think the c5/6 prices will not adjust much and may potentially even appreciate in value.

I do. I actually like to take road trips with my Corvettes, so storage is important. Unless you would rather drive your SUV. Then it doesn't matter.

that's not necessarily a bad thing, give them a few years to work the bugs out and then you can get a near new one without the quirks for less money... the ones rushing out to buy them now will be the guinea pigs

I think the new C8 is bad ***. Taking absolutely nothing away from my C5 - it's a 20 year old car and awesome in its own right. But in a day of Hellcats, Camaros, Mustangs, let alone European and Japanese competition - you can't stay ahead of the performance curve without going mid engine. And - in the very near future - the 'Vette will offer an electric powertrain that rip your head off. This configuration better suits a long term strategy for the platform. I think it's encouraging that there's still a group in GM willing to take risks - I think it bodes well for the continued production of the car. I think people forget sometimes that the Corvette's life hasn't always been certain... Just my $.02

Drive your C5 and enjoy it. The introduction of a new car doesn't diminish it one iota. I loved my C5 before the reveal and I love it now. Do I like the C8? Absolutely I do....those two things are mutually exclusive
I have to shake my head sometimes at car guys who take the introduction of something different as a personal affront. The same thing happened in the Mopar world when the 2005 Charger was revealed.
