Default Normal Operating Temperature

I just changed out my coolant and was just wondering what is the normal operating temperature?

My car runs right at 190, but can climb up to 225 on 100° plus days before the fans come on. When the AC is on it stays under 210 I'm guessing because the fans turn on sooner?

Mine always ran about 190-200 with the occasional jump to around 220 when in stop and go traffic.

I just ook a ride and it hovered around 208. I made a couple of hard runs and afterwards it settled down to 204. The temperature was about 85 degrees as the sun was almost down.

192 without air and moving well, but it does climb quickly until the fans engage.

It actually makes a BIG difference.

With the AC on, the fan runs constantly. This acts to keep temps undercontrol unless you are stopped for a long period of time.

With the AC off, no fans run until the temperature threshold is met, somewhere around 225

I hope this helps you to understand how the system works

Interesting...if I get a chance I'll test the theory (except that it's 100 degrees today!) I remember back in the day I used to turn off the A/C when I'd go up long, steep grades. I don't pay attention much anymore but with the Vette it has an actual temperature read out.
