In my C5 convertible I was thinking of doing a new amp rack.
Right now I have one amp sort of resting in there on a piece of wood with black carpeting on it, but in considering adding a second amp I would like to make something more fancy than that since there would now be two amps and a power distribution block. It will definitely need to be taller, but I want it to be able to stand on its own instead of just leaning like I have it now.
current state
I'm wondering if anyone else has done this before and if they could share photos. I'm just looking for inspiration.
Someone else on the forum was kind enough to supply the measurements of the interior of the cubby - 11" x 6 1/4" x 5 1/4".
I have a coupe but this should still work. I attached both amps to the rear panel and put a capacitor in the bin, which doubles as my power distributor.
I decided to go 5 channel. The cost of that minus what I'll get selling my 4 channel is around $150, which is only a little more than the mono amp plus distribution block would cost. I do have to relocate it because it won't fit in the cubby otherwise. I don't want to drill into the plastic in the back, plus I've found that even in the cubby, I have to be careful not to have whatever's in the trunk hit the amp. I didn't secure it or the wires which I know was lazy on my part. Anyway, with moving it I can re-use a lot of the wiring I have already. Plus I decided to go from single din to double din, which means taking the bezel off etc. anyway.
