Anyone else ever had wacky TPMS air pressure readings? The monitoring system said my R/R was low. It was down a couple lbs., so I brought it back up. But now without doing anything my L/R says the pressure is too high, although a pressure gauge says it's fine. ??????????

Default Reputable Tire Dealer...

The first thing I would do is make sure your TPMS's are being read correctly. That being when your display says Right Rear that in fact it is actually reading the Right Rear. I won't go into my past issues but once I brought my '00 Vert into my local tire dealer they discovered my system was telling me my Right Front when in reality it was my Left Front that was nearly flat! Once they got this all sorted out everything functioned perfectly.

Reprogram the sensors as step #1.

Also, how old are the sensors? 10-12 years is a good rule of thumb for their life, though some (including me) have seen longer.

I have cleaned up odd electronic issues on mine by disconnecting the battery for a period of time - sort of a cold reboot of the systems. And as you probably know, low battery voltage causes a whole slew of electronic hiccups on C5's, so make sure the battery is good.

I haven't a clue how to reprogram the sensors. The car is an '03, so I assume they're the originals.

Using a manual pressure gauge I made sure all 4 tires have 32lbs.. The TPMS is showing low pressure of 20lbs in the R/R, and high pressure of 42lbs in L/R. So I've decided to just ignore the TPMS and just use an air gauge from now on. After all I've had many, many cars without ever having a TPMS.

As long as they are giving you a reading I would say they are still functional. A reset may help. I replaced mine after 18 years and were still working.
