Out driving and and had a problem. All guages went out except volts dash started flashing reduced power ,tire pressure, low fuel, service soon, the engine seemed to be running normal. The a/c worked the radio worked. Pulled over and shut it off. Started back up but still same thing. Drove it home. Waited 30 minutes and it wouldn’t crank over. Next day it started and all systems work fine. What’s up
The first thing I would do would be to have the battery tested, and if OK, make sure that the side terminals are tight.
It could be many things, but some symptoms of a failing ignition switch match what you experienced. Contacts in the switch become burned over time and sometimes don't make contact on one or more of the many circuits that go through the switch. In the early phase of failure the symptoms are intermittent but become increasingly frequent.
A no crank symptom is often caused by a failing starter relay and a crank, no start symptom is often caused by a failing ignition switch, but not necessarily in either case.
One test that helps identify a failing ignition switch is, when you experience DIC low voltage, reduced power, and other warnings after a start, OR you experience a crank, no start- Turn the key clear to off and attempt a restart. A failing ignition switch may make contact on a second or third try and allow a normal start and run.
One test that helps identify a failing starter relay is, if you experience a no crank, to tap the starter relay with a long rod. This may jar the relay internals enough to allow it to contact and power the starter.
