I researched catch cans before buying one. There are different opinions on whether a catch can is needed. I don't run my car hard so according to the experts here a catch can is not needed. I bought one from Elite and installed it anyway. I had to remove my intake to fix another problem. When I did I saw oil on the floor of the intake before installing the catch can. I change my oil every 3000 miles. I usually find about 3/4 inch of oil in the catch can at this time. You be the judge if you need one or not. That's my experience. The Elite catch can is very nice and well worth the money to me.

Just added a Moroso can to mine. Too many observations on here that they are effective, based on the LS design, no matter driving style. It isn't a matter of accumulation only how quick it will need emptied based on your habits and mods.

A catch can is good if you really care and are a bit OCD about things.
When you do a intake manifold exchange or heck, just cleaning your throttle body, you would understand the benefits of this.
I purchased the Moroso catch can and it works well.

I did the Elite also, and it's made so well that it reminds me of olde-American manufacturing quality.

I did the Elite and ECS installed it for me and I believe did the throttle-body bypass at the same time. It works - maybe a tablespoon or two when I go in there. Be careful of your cleaning products - Simple Green was OK but Purple Power left a haze on the aluminum finish that I've still not been able to remove...

PJDBM - nice engine compartment - looks very similar to mine with the Vararam air bridge. What coupling setup are you using in the area I've marked? I have a big-*** neon hose with a clamp that sticks up so high that it sliced through the underhood insulator and also left a scratch in the bottom of the hood (hence my ordeal to get a new underhood insulator). You don't have your MAF up there do you?

I also have the Moroso. Works well and does collect oil that would otherwise go right through the intake manifold, valves and exhaust.

I have an Elite, here is what my intake looked like when my car had less than 7,000 miles.

Thanks for the compliment, I used the coupling that came with the Vararam, they were black. I updated and got better clamps for the throttle body area. I do have my MAF there tuned it counter clock a bit so it didnt run my hood liner.

Here is a better shot of it

I ran an Elite Engineering catch can on my '03. Quality unit and it did capture oil vapor that would have normally gone into the intake.

Elite can, after only 300 miles, conservatively driven, I don't recall being any where near 5000rpm during those miles.
