Never been a fan of black wheels but am seriously thinking about doing a set of Forgestar CF5 like on this Porsche because what they did on them really sets off the wheels and the car. It's a very distinctive look with the way they polished the lip just in certain areas to highlight the five spoke design . ET, I think something like this would look really killer on your red C7 because you could still very clearly make out the wheel design from a distance and the black wouldn't blend into the wheelwells so it makes it look like a black hole. Just my $0.02. YMMV.

I was a little worryed that you had finally gone stock on me. Your C7 looks great, like a couple of 1000 , that I have seen.
You have not been a black wheel guy in the past, I guess you can change, but I doubt it. There are high quality wheels
that have chrome/alum and some black. You are a great researcher.
Get to it.
Good luck.
Just put these on, they are the correct offsets and styled after the C7 in a satin black. Ive got a few compliments from folks in the neighborhood, they seem to like the new look.
While I do like chrome wheels on older cars and hot rods, I much prefer the look of black wheels. Im not a fan at all of chrome wheels on later model Vettes (C4 and up) The only problem I see, is that they have been done to death. Thats why I decided to go with these bronze burst F-14 wheels on my pewter C5 when I did the wide body mod.
I really think the 'black wheels disappear' is more a result of how poorly they photograph, than anything else. They can and often do look good in person, if you look right at them your eyes adjust and sees the contrast with the tire, brake rotor, caliper, lug nuts etc. If you are looking generally at the entirety of the car then the black wheels certainly get 'washed out'.
Now check out pics of my car,
here is one with the wheels fairly 'washed out' due to camera/computer screen limitations. this was taken in HDR on my cam phone. Can't see much detail.
here is a little better due to lighting, more detail emerges, looking a bit better:
and finally, here is the 'best' pic I've been able to take of these wheels. Still not very good, contrast is poor.
Now, these wheels look awesome in person!! but they photograph rather flat and boring (limited by tech and the user of course).
So in the end, go with what looks 'good' to you. if you like to look @ pics & post pics of your car, avoid black as it's hard to photograph. If you enjoy looking at it in person, then have another look at black.

^Well said.

I was between those wheels and C6Z wheels...I opted for the more simple C6Z in gloss black as the C7Z wheels are much busier, cleaning them for a DD would be a pain and IMO the C6Z wheels look better in more viewing angles than the C7Z wheels did.
After 4 weeks of ownership, and a lot of research, Ive warmed up to my black wheels. I'm not sure if I have settled on them, but I have not found anything that excites me, and more importantly fits the car's carbon flash personality. When I look at the car now, it looks right. Perspective is a forgiving thing. I thought I would resurrect this thread to update my feelings.. Being a bling guy and a chrome or polished look wheel guy for almost 60 years, it is a bit of a challenge to change your perspective. I'm getting there. My car has a definite race looking personality.
. Just to show my vision, I did not wait a day to remove that chrome " Retainer " strip on the front grill. it had no place being there on a totally blacked out car.
4 weeks ago in the showroom Only piece of chrome on the car. Not bashful Looks much better

That is a very beautiful car Bill.. I’m one of those weird people that likes both looks. If the wheel fits with the rest of the car theme, then I usually love the look.

Definitely looks right now. That chrome strip looked way out of place, on that car.
Makes you wonder the conversation that day in the design room and how it came to be to place that chrome strip on the front...
Almost like someone high up said it HAD to have SOME chrome bits on the car lol. So someone took a silver sharpie and drew a line across the bumper and said "Meh we'll put it here?"

That strip was signed off by at least three people, in the design phase.
I have nothing to add, because I'm like a monkey and like bright shinny things. Not sure I could get use to black wheels. But that's just me.
I have nothing against tasteful bling.. I still think My C5 is spectacular.. The polished forged CCW work well on that car.. The vision I've always expressed is " Balance" My C5 is a torch red car.. A mostly single color... My C7 is two colors.. torch red and carbon flash.. Its a red and black car.. To me, three significant colors is too busy.. Adding chrome wheels does not fit my design vision for my C7. If my C7 was Torch red, I would not hesitate to add a more significant wheel. The black wheels work, and if a find something I like Ill change them. I have seen the black chrome finish, ( but not in person ) . I'm not sure if the expenditure of a forged wheel in black chrome would be significant enough to define the wheels of the gloss black wheels I have now.. I am ok with the wheel design,.
