Default Removing Old Dealer Sticker

First post here and have a question about the 2002 C5 I just bought. It still has the original dealer sticker on it and although I know how to remove it, I wonder if I should be concerned with the original paint under it being darker than the rest of the paint on the car. I don't want a "ghost" outline of the old dealer logo so is this something I should have to worry about? Original owner stated it was always garaged and the paint looks to be in great condition. Thanks for any input on this!

WD-40 or Goo-be-Gone and an old credit card as a scraper. You might get a little ghosting, but it will be better than an old sticker. FWIW I bought a new vehicle once and as a condition of sale made THEM remove all of the dealer stickers/badging!

I agree. I too don't allow dealership advertising on any of my vehicles. Even when travelling in state, nobody needs to know I'm from out of town not to mention the stickers look tacky.

Same goes for license plate frames. Very few people driving around without those.

I bought a lot of cars in my life. 27 to be exact. Back in the late 50's and early 60's dealer logo's were drilled to the rear of the car usually two holes and two speed nuts from the inside.. Ive never had a car with a dealer logo. Today most cars with them are usually stick on's. some only advertised on a license plate frame.

Heat gun on low. Keep it moving back and forth. Peels right off then wipe with Goo-B-Gone. Then a good washing.

Sacrilege to put dealer badging on a Corvette.

I'm not nearly as old as you but I too can remember the dealer logo being an emblem glued or screwed on so it must have been still going on in the 70's.
I, like the other's above, don't like the dealer's logos. When I purchased my 2002 Corvette new, I told them if they put their logo anywhere on the car I would not buy it. Needless to say, they left their logos off. If I only known that in 1991 when I purchased my Eagle Talon TsiAWD new. Many years later when I took off their dealership logo sticker, it ghosted and you can still see the logo The Talon's paint is in remarkable condition too so I'd be wary.

I appreciate all the help, guys.

I got home, used my daughter's blow-drier, and it came right off with no paint problems.

I'm relieved because that sticker's been on there since it was sold new in 2002!

FYI - for the future pick up some plastic razor blades for your toolbox. Been using them for years - never scratch paint and get those stickers right off.

Good move getting the sticker off and nice that no paint fading was evident.

FWIW... a clay bar works well on the vinyl stickers and is super safe on paint.

Bought my first new car in 1990 and the dealer still screwed their metal logo onto the back of the car.

Bought my first car, a Datsun, in 1972. Logo was glued on which I promptly removed.
