So my rear deck emblem came apart in the hot Texas sun today, and I also noticed the front emblem is not in the best shape.
I removed the rear emblem and got rid of the glue with some goo gone. I have not looked at the deck in the sun, but I could see some ghosting under the lights in the garage.
The factory emblems are priced like they are made out of gold.. Are there any alternatives out there for front and rear emblems ???
I did not take a picture of mine before I removed it, but it looked a lot like this picture...
Posting because I'm interested as well. Both my emblems have basically fallen apart- the silver paint from the AE emblems has peeled off and they look gross now just like OP's picture. I've temporarily fixed them by just plasti-dipping them black.
~$120/US for some cheap GM plastic is Audi levels of WTF (Actually I can get the front emblems and rear emblems combined for cheaper). At that point I'd rather go full on Porsche GTR3 RS and just get vinyl corvette emblems BUT THE GOD DAMN NOSE HAS ALIGNMENT HOLES.
As with every other automobile out there surely someone must make some aftermarket ones? If I'm forking out USD for plastic it sure as hell better be painted or carbon or hydrodipped or something cool and interesting.

It may or may not be for you, but before spending the ducats for a new emblem, consider how it looks while it's off. I might leave a front one, but if/when my deck lid emblem dies, I'll probably not replace it. (The front one has posts, and will leave holes in the bumper cover IIRC).

Agreed. When I bought my z, there was no rear emblem, but the owner provided a new one that he planned on putting on. I ended up never doing so because I prefer no rear emblem.
I’ve seen it without the front emblem and the holes filled on another members car, and I prefer it with the flags.
Contact one of the guys that parts out C-5s. They usually have several laying around. Vettenuts or John Llewellyn (865-604-0498).
They still aren't cheap, but a lot less than new.
You can probably find one here for less money. Lots of C5 wrecks with lots of parts... Good company that I've dealt with several times here in Pennsylvania... GOOD LUCK!

Just buy a new one.
If you take it off properly and carefully, a used emblem can certainly be reused. Easy, although a bit time consuming, to reinstall some double sided tape and then stick the emblem on. I've done it several times with very good results.
Removed my gaudy rear 50th emblem completely. Hated it. Replaced the gaudy front 50th emblem with a much less noticeable non-50th black emblem a member here sold me. I cleaned off the old adhesive and reattached it to my bumper with 3M trim adhesive after adding the carbon overlays. Easy peasy. Not sure why anyone says you can't reuse them. Just take your time.
