Default White car dirty hiding spot

While hitting the car with detailer I noticed that under my door handle looked grimy. (I know, slightly ****. But once you see it, you gotta clean it).

So I hit it with my favorite (and soon to be yours) detailing item. Mr Clean Eraser. These things are great. Also used to clean the scuffs from the door dills. And just about anything stubborn to get clean. I always hit painted areas with wax after. I also touched up the paint on the handle after this picture...

Magic eraser is chemically and mechanically abrasive. Melamine foam is an effective " Abrasive cleaner " used in magic erasers.. I worry about using a high quality microfiber towel. Using such an abrasive on my finish would have me and Sal Zaino in the emergency room with stress related issues.. Of course everyone is entitled to their own madness. Saying " soon to be my cleaner " is laughable.

Not something I would recommend on a 45 micron clear coat finish.... less than 2 thousandths of an inch. 0.00177 in.

As with any product, be sure to read the instructions carefully before using it.

I found the following information on the official product web site:

"Test a small area with light pressure before use. Not recommended for the following surfaces: high gloss, polished, dark, brushed, satin, faux, bare/polished wood, copper, stainless steel, non-stick coating, or vehicle body."

I am not suggesting you polish the whole car with them...but used carefully, they work in a lot of different areas...

While I wouldn't use it on the hood, the product is excellent for some applications and locations, partiicularly anytime I'm cleaning a solid plastic with scrapes or other marks, such as the black trim pieces, etc.

I once said on this site that i would never use microfiber on any of my cars and i was told by someone that i was doing something wrong. I also am also a zanio advocate and will use nothing but cotton towels on my car.

I am sure, the OP was trying to be helpful. The thing that got me amped up was that op was too convinced the product was a magic find, that he wanted to being here. the Quote about it " soon to be your cleaner of choice ", was less than accurate and way too presumptuous.. A little hazing was in order, in my opinion. I was not about to be quiet and allow some unsuspecting newbie use this product and destroy part of their car's finish. My motivation was not to poke my finger in the OP's eye as much as it was to alert the uniformed that a poor suggestion by another wise misguided member had the potential of causing a lot of damage.
Magic erasers do have their place, but not on the clear coat of any Corvette.
Bill
My apologies to the OP if my alert to other members was insensitive to your feelings..
