Just my own opinion but I really do believe that the color of the car will determine how a painted, as in black, chrome, gunmetal, or what have you, wheel will appear on a vehicle. I'm not opposed to black wheels, just depends on the particular car. I generally like chromed wheels, they seem to go with and compliment most paint colors to my eyes. But, as in most things, beauty is in the eye of the beholder and different folks see things differently. Those differences are what keeps the car hobby interesting to me. Best wishes to all!
I think I’m sold on the black wheels. These wheels just have the look I really like. If anyone else have the C7 Z06 wheels on a C5 I’d really love to see them. Thanks for the replies. I still like to hear your opinions if your have any.
Black wheels became popular on newer vehicles. It reminds me of the 1960's when kids stole your wheel covers. That what it looks like to me. The factory wheels on my 02 vert have not failed yet on don't need replacement or more bling. Adding expensive aftermarket wheels is increases the chance or you ride being stolen. I had chrome reverse back in 1970 and thought they were cool.

Polished aluminum would be my #1 choice, but they're a little more work than chrome.
I have seen cars with black wheels that I liked, but they are really few and far between, and under no circumstance would I put them on my own car. Gunmetal, chrome, mill finish aluminum, magnesium, ANYthing but painted black... There's just too many other choices that you can actually see the wheel for me to get black.
For that matter, look at any pic that's been posted here of black wheels. If it's not up close, you have no idea what wheel it is, and it's irrelevant to the look. I can't see spending a zillion $ on wheels to have them invisible. Ymmv...
I would say highly polished aluminum would look best on silver, then chrome, then black...black wheels always look dirty to me, even when they're clean...

Not only are you old fashioned, your sight is not real good ????
Maybe you haven't noticed, but I'm not the only person in this thread who doesn't care for black wheels. Why are you singling me out? And why do guys who have black wheels take it so personally when someone says they don't like black wheels? I don't take it personally when someone says I'm old fashioned because I like chrome. Are you that thin skinned about your choices?
